And what I’m arguing is that she wasn’t reacting a gay pride message. No one paints “I’m bi” on their hood and means it. She was reacting to the correct assumption that people were coming in from out of town to mock stereotypical southern behavior.

Yes, she handled herself extremely poorly. No, that probably wasn’t the first or second gas station they stopped at.

So by reacting badly, she basically just confirmed that behavior and made herself look like an inbred illiterate. If you don’t want people to think you’re ignorant, don’t act that way.

Not sure I understand you (just woke up from a nap, brain is not yet in gear). “An argument about attacking”? What proposition is being argued, and which side of the argument do you have to be on in order to be a basher?

I phrased it poorly as my brain also wasn’t entirely in gear; I meant an argument consisting of attacking someone’s interpretation of the Bible with scriptural cites.

And isn’t it great to know that the positive values of the USA have withstood the challenges of the last decade rather than just assuming it? A worthwhile social experiment in a worthwhile project.

I wouldn’t do it in any number of UK housing estates but I’d be happy if someone did this and came up with a similar good outcome.

Really? Lots of UK housing estates have residents who wear the hijab and sometimes the full burka or hijab with niqab. It wouldn’t stand out at all.

And it was a silly social experiment. Wearing a particular type of Muslim clothing for one day tells you nothing about what it’s like to be a Muslim in a town where you might be the only one.
