Guess what Texas immigration authorities did to Kamala Harris - AGAIN?

Forget about the bus drivers. The Feds should arrest Abbott. And DeSantis and Ducey.

Yeah, you’ve literally got people bragging about human trafficking. How are they not already in prison?

We should probably be thankful they were dumped where help was available rather than just over the border in the middle of nowhere.

I’m sure a sense of self-preservation is the only reason Abbott didn’t have that done.

There’s plenty of room at the gray bar inn for all of them. Bus drivers, bus company owners, all of them!

Excerpt from the Pope’s Christmas address to the world

“Dear brothers and sisters, today as then, Jesus, the true light, comes into a world severely sick with indifference, a world that does not welcome him (cf. Jn 1:11) and indeed rejects him, as it does with many foreigners, or ignores him, as we all too often do with the poor. Today may we not forget the many displaced persons and refugees who knock at our door in search of some comfort, warmth, and food. Let us not forget the marginalized, those living alone, the orphans, the elderly – who are wisdom for their people – who risk being set aside, and prisoners, whom we regard solely for the mistakes they have made and not as our fellow men and women.”

You can read the whole address here

I didn’t think what you wrote was amusing.

I know the pope wouldn’t say what I wrote. Abbott claims he’s a devout Catholic and yet he pulls that bullshit on Christmas. He couldn’t be less Christian or less Catholic if he tried.

He’s a sanctimonious, hypocritical asshole.

I don’t think what Abbot did was remotely Christian or Catholic , and I think the point was that Abbot does not even remotely follow the popes words or message. Abbot is an anti-Christian. He had shown that he actively works against the words of the pope.

I think I’ll write a letter to the Pope about this. Couldn’t hurt.

Judging by conservative Twitter, you’d be wrong. It was all about how the Dems shipped those people right the fuck to somewhere else so they didn’t have to deal with them, and that Dems showed exactly how hypocritical they are by not wanting those illegals in their neighborhoods, either.

I am confused. Texas immigration? I thought Immigration was Federal.

I am a motorcoach operator (bus driver) located in Greater Austin. As far as I know, my company has not been contracted to take any of these migrant trips. Personally, I will refuse to participate if such a trip were assigned to me (which has not happened). I was disappointed when one of our buses was used to illustrate a TV news story on these caravans. The logo of the bus company was not used, but someone who knows our buses would instantly recognize it. I called the guy who drives that bus and he said he didn’t make that trip. It must have been stock footage the TV channel had from some other story.

There are a lot of reasons why I’m not on Twitter. Things like this are one of them.

Meh. I felt that last remnants of my Catholicism fading years ago when I saw numerous churches around me with all their little white abortion crosses and roadside signs but not a one had a single public word to say about living, feeling and frightened Hispanic children being taken from their families and kept in cages as a “deterrence” against people trying to immigrate with refugee status into the US. And, of course, most of those children were probably raised Catholic themselves.

I like Francis, as far as popes go, but his message on refugees and immigrants unfortunately doesn’t seem to be shared as a public message across the Catholic community and churches in the United States.

CINOs.

You are misinformed. Maybe your area is different, but Catholicism in the US has always been populated by waves of poor immigrants – Irish, Polish, Italian in the 19th century, followed by Vietnamese, Filipino, and Hispanic in the 20th and overwhelmingly Hispanic in the 21st. Catholic churches in southern border states are on the front lines of immigration support and political reform.

For Catholics, whether you agree with them or not, abortion is the very same kind of sin as turning one’s back to the refugee.

This seems to be untrue – please provide a cite that they are the same level of sin.

I am spending Christmas with a large number of practicing Catholics. People who are weekly, even daily, communicants. One is a seminarian another is a nun.

While several of them are PERSONALLY involved in relief work for the poor and immigrants, all the POLITICAL talk has been extremely hostile to immigration (both legal and illegal, ironically as most of them are first generation immigrants, some of them even needed amnesty at some point to regularize their status). And Abortion seems to be 100 times more important to them than social justice. And I don’t hear anything about the death penalty at these gatherings any more. At least 20 years ago, the Pro Life crowd gave the occasional nod to the broader definition. Now it seems you can be, practically speaking, anti-abortion for “Catholic” reasons but still be in favor of the death penalty or even allowing people to starve or freeze to death unless PRIVATE charity saves them. They are not going to vote to take Other People’s Money to help the poor in the US, and certainly not in other countries. There is talk about how we need to take care of our own, as in those poor people in [nearby big city] before we take on the problems of Hondurans or Venezuelans. But this doesn’t equate to support for higher domestic safety net programs either.

The seminarian worked on the gubernatorial campaign of a fire breathing anti-gay, anti-immigrant candidate. Almost everyone was celebrating the victory.

Twenty years ago, the nun was vocal in her support for woman EVENTUALLY having an equal role in the Church. She couldn’t say it directly but we all knew she meant the ordination of women to the priesthood. She’s now totally focused on abortion and the “undermining of the family” aka gay marriage and adoption by same sex couples.

Yeah, I remember bishops saying some politicians should be refused communion for their anti-abortion stance, but I can’t think of a single one being refused for their pro-death penalty or anti-immigrant stance. Weird.

Big headline: Abortion Is Evil, must fight it! Gay marriage is an abomination!

Footnote in tiny font: Letting people starve and freeze to death is also bad, unless you have to pay for saving them with stolen money. Also godless Communists are bad.

Apologist: See, we are equally concerned. You guys are misinformed. You need to dig deeper.

It’s obvious that the scumbags pulling these stunts still expect the people on the receiving end to react to the immigrants with hatred and disgust, so the scumbags can prove that the other side are “the real racists” or something.

One wonders how often they have to self-own themselves before they’ll realize this has always failed. It turns out, taking care of immigrants is actually quite easy for the richest country in human history, if you’re not a self-centered scumbag.
