Guess what Texas immigration authorities did to Kamala Harris - AGAIN?

I’m buying beers all around if eenerms ever answers your questions.

Can Michigan send the Whitmer kidnapping plotters to Governor Abbott’s home, or at least have them spend their prison sentences in Texas?

See, that’s what Republicans don’t understand. I live in Chicago-ish, and we have lots of our own problems here. Problems specific to us, that Abbott doesn’t have to deal with.
But we don’t put our unique problems on a bus and sent them to the homes of Texas government officials because we aren’t inhuman shitslimes.
Republicans don’t get that.

“No room” in Texas, of all places? I take it you’ve never seen the place. If there’s anything at all that Texas has, it’s room.

Evidently some Texans are coming to the realization that their state is no longer the largest state in the union. And this is how they respond to that: kneejerk jackassery.

That happened in 1958. They’re just hearing about it now?

Even the stupid is bigger in Texas.

If they were looking for an immigrant’s child, they could have dropped them off at Mar-a-Lago and saved some gas.

I’ve told this story on the Dope before but a friend of mine lived in Alaska for over three years, as her hubby was in the airbase at Fairbanks. When he got transferred to San Antionio my friend went to get a new driver’s license at the Texas DMV, something that had always been easy during other moves. But the clerk at the DMV told her “We don’t take driver’s licenses from other countries.” This clerk truly did not believe Alaska was a US state. So much for Texas officialdom.

If someone believes that Pope Francis thinks that anyone coming from Latin America must be carrying diseases or bringing in drugs when they come across the Mexican border (because, you know, all those Latin Americans are diseased and drug dealers), they don’t know anything about him. He’s almost the only pope born outside of Europe. He was born and grew up in Argentina. He’s probably going to be part of a trend away from European and European-ancestry people being the future popes, since an increasingly large proportion of Catholics now live in Africa, Asia, and South America rather than in Europe and North America. This is not to defend the Catholic church as being a wonderful organization. In most ways it’s a terrible organization that’s done terrible things. It’s just that with the trend toward Catholics increasingly being non-European and non-European-ancestry people, future popes can be expected to come from many places around the world.

The quote you are responding to was making the point that Pope Francis thought no such thing. It’s been clarified in the subsequent posts for people who missed the sarcasm.

BTW, I also don’t think Jesus would have said “fuck those migrants”, in case anyone else isn’t understanding.

You are probably right about non-Europeans, but note that Francis is of Italian heritage. The majority of Argentinians have a European background. Not that I care, but I wont be holding my breath for an African, Asian, or indigenous heritage Pope any time soon.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand. Let’s see if Republicans in the next Congress are serious about immigration reform or are only interested in shallow stunts like this.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the next pope is not of European heritage. Popes are chosen from the cardinals and are voted on by them. The following website notes that the cardinals are increasingly not of European heritage:

Everything is changing everywhere, and nothing that’s completely different from the way it was before will surprise me.

Spoiler alert: It’s the shallow stunts.
