Crap, ems, that sucks. Will the insurance company cough up lots and lots of money to replace the car? Are you hurt at all? My most sincere sympathy. Stupid driver.
I’m going insane here. I have at least 3 males on campus vying for my attention, plus one who still flirts with me, but has declared that he’s too old for me. (if he only knew…)
I’m so confused, because I’ve never had people waiting in line to date me.
Aw, geez, ems, that really stinks… Hope you’re feeling better and you get a nice shiny new car to replace your formerly nice, shiny new car.
We’ve quit making sawdust for the day, but I used the dado cutter for the first time. Go me! We assembled the front and back sections of the radial saw work tables. Tomorrow we’ll cut and install the side sections, cut the bottom shelves and install them, add a couple of cleats for the saw, and bolt it between the tables, then make the top for the whole shebang. It will measure close to 20’ in overall length when we’re done.
We coulda used the radial arm saw to cut out the legs for the radial arm saw work tables. Funny how that works.
And all the sawdust is outside on my soon-to-be compost pile. I think sawdust is a good start.
Now I need a shower. As they say: Clean mind, clean body - take your pick.
I suggest yo go to the bookstore and get a copy of Whiplash for Fun and Profit.
Dang ems! I’m sorry about your car, but I’m glad you’re not all bad hurt and stuff. Maybe you will get another brand new shiny car out of the deal.
donkeybear the fear is you will wear me out.
fcm I have no idea what you are talkin’ about but it sounds like you had a good time. Oh and the Rue dream, well now, that’s just probably the surreal kinda experience meeting him in person would be.
I was up a little before five a.m. We had that yard sale at church, then I came home and did a bunch of yard work. You know who is working, which means no huggiewuggiesqueezy for me again tonight. Le Sigh. Just as well, I am a tired bear. I’m bettin’ I’ll be ready to be sound asleep by around eightish. Oh and I also made a sausage and cornbread casserole for brunch at church tomorrow. It’s yummerific!
Well, I hadn’t counted you because… well, you know… I live in your bushes. Or that neighbor’s kid’s treehouse, because from there I can get a much better view with the binoculars.
Too bad that the one who thinks he’s too old for me thinks that. He’s got that cute little “I’m-slightly-graying-in-my-beard” look.
Also, swampy, I think that you might wear me out. Looks like we’ll just have to try it and see who was right.
All right. (giggety-giggety-giggety)
::hopes that swampy watches Family Guy::
Sorry about your accident, ems. That stinks! Glad you weren’t seriously hurt. Sorry about the new car.
So, I mowed my front lawn and went and got sterile planting mix to root some plants in. That’s part of my to-do list for the weekend. (Seems like a better record than both weekends lately.)
And I went to the movies. Went and saw Serenity again in the middle of the day. Even if you don’t like sci-fi, you might like it. I think it’s sci-fier (it is too a word!) than the series, but it’s still very entertaining. I’m not really a sci-fi/action film person, but I liked it a lot. Saw Just Like Heaven at 5:30. It’s mostly cute. The end was a little too perfect, though. Really predictable and saccharine in a way that the rest of the movie wasn’t.
Got my white elephant box today. Got some nice stuff. And some elephants. Fun ones, though. It was like Christmas - just what I needed! Yay!! Need to go post my thanks in that thread.
FCM, sounds like you’re having fun with the woodworking!
Off to post in a couple other threads and then to get stuff done…maybe.

Aw geeze, ems, I’m sorry that happened to you. Thank goodness you weren’t hurt even worse. I hope you find a good replacement for your car, but you know we couldn’t have replaced our ems.
I feel your pain, I had the same thing happen to me six months after I got my Explorer. Some teeny-bopper slammed right into my passenger side. She hit me so hard she broke my rear axle. Fortunately, neither of us were hurt.
Anway, thinking of you and hoping your bumps, bruises and pain quickly fade away.
ems, sorry about the smashed-up car. It was too young to die.
I hope you feel not-achy soon. I’m glad you’re okay.
I’m heading out of town tomorrow. I haven’t even packed yet. I’ve been running around all day (well, really driving around), and I was so tired when I got home, I fell asleep for a little while, so now I have to go do some cleaning and packing.
zelie, your electricians sound lovely. I’m still drooling over my new auto mechanic, who’s very good-looking. I won’t feel so bad next time I have to get my car fixed. I do like men who are good with their hands!
Off to church, then out for lunch with Quasi-Daughter and Mr. Lissar’s godparents. Should be fun. I hope we go to C’Est What for lunch. It’s a lovely little pub, and I haven’t been to it in months.
I’m sleepy. I don’t often get up before nine, owing to our weird work schedules
I was up at 7:00 a.m. today. I made some coffee and then sat down and read my Sunday paper. It was so nice and quiet.
Dang **FCM, ** you’re turning all New Yankee Workshop on us. I’m jealous. I wish I had the tools and skills to do that kind of stuff. I just LOVE the smell of fresh sawn wood and I think it would be awesome to be able to build my own furniture and stuff.
Seven pages! Can you believe it? Rue would be so proud!
Well, I don’t think I’m ready to replace Norm as a master carpenter, but I’m getting more comfortable with all the power tools and stuff. We built the radial arm saw table today. And a little later, we’ll move all our nice nw wood down theren. ManLand is pretty cool looking! I’ll take some pics in a bit and post them.
Unfortunately, we won’t be making a lot of sawdust until after FCD is all better, but that’s fine - I’ll have a few weeks to tend to my crappy looking gardens.
OK, for the first time anywhere: ManLand!!!
Wow!!! Very impressive. I want my basement to look like this. Do you make housecalls? (I don’t have nearly as many tools, but it would be nice to have them that organized.)
So, I’ve frittered away another weekend. Saw Serenity three times. I am not obsessive!!! Mowed the lawn. Cleared out all the recycling. Trimmed some more blackberry brambles (I’m trying to get rid of all of them - they’re not good blackberries). Went to the grocery store. Decided not to finish reading Atomic Romance by Bobbi Ann Mason. Maybe I’ll be in the mood some other time; it felt like I wasn’t getting anywhere and I was only about 1/3 through it. Started to read Lisa Scottoline’s latest. Already much better. (Maybe I just needed a mystery to clear out my brain?).
Didn’t make it to several items, but I did sleep in both Saturday and Sunday, which I apparently needed badly.
So now I’m going to go throw some stuff in the laundry and keep reading…
