It was a good day. I threw 2 new pieces in class - an assymetric bowl and a pitcher. Plus I trimmed 2 of the pieces I did last week. I hung around after class to get some info about kilns from my teacher - I don’t think I can afford one just yet.
When I came home, I replanted the 5 concrete planters that I moved from the yard to the front porch. They’re all full of mums and pansies now - bright spots of color across the front of the house. I’m pleased. Then I took a load of garbage and recycling to the convenience center, came home and fed the critters, showered, and headed into town with my sweetie. We picked up his meds and some dog food, had dinner, swung by Lowe’s for a few things, and got back a little while ago. I’m chilling in my fuzzy robe.
Tomorrow, I’ve got a mess o’bulbs to get planted, and I may do some raking. The weather was gorgeous today, and we’re expecting more of the same tomorrow, tho slightly cooler.
Fall has arrived in Florida! It’s still pretty hot but the evenings and mornings have been getting into the 70’s and even though the day is still hot there’s a bit of a breeze. It’s lovely after months of searing, eyeball melting, brain frying heat. So I did some stuff outside today and I got stung by two wasps for my trouble. grumble
Yeah, I know I’ve been real chatty all week, but I had to stop by and mention that on the front page of today’s paper was an article that Trade Joe’s is coming to Newport News. I know y’all will be excited…
No M&M’s on sandwiches. It was stressful, though, because for the last half of breakfast (well, from 9 to 10:30), we were running 9 percent labor. Not fun. And I was the only person at the front who could legally cook hashbrowns.
Given current AR labor laws, employees under 16 are not allowed to cook hashbrowns or fries (as well as a large list of other things). Since the little kiddies don’t work during the week, I get stuck with all of them on the weekend.
