Guest Status?

We of course have “member”, “moderator”, “administrator”, “Perfect Master” and “banned”. Now we seem to have “guest” posters.

Greymatters appeared to be one for a while when I last posted in this thread, but now he’s a “member” again. Odd. Was I imagining it?

Nope. I saw it, too.

Sighting #2

I saw it under The Gaspode’s username. I thought it was just me. My browser does freaky stuff sometimes.

I think it happens in the time interval when someone enters a new e-mail address and before they reply to the confirmation e-mail that is sent to verify the address.

Well, I’m glad I wasn’t imagining it. Thanks Arnold.

Just as a thought, it might be appropriate to give Chronos, JillGat, and whoever I’m forgetting a special line as “Former Moderator Emeritus” or some such – rights the same as those for member, but giving them the cachet that they can speak with some authority (because knowledge) about how the board is administered. Then if they happen on a problem in the making, they’re equipped to speak up and hopefully defuse it.

Besides, they deserve it.

Kamandi - wouldn’t you be happier to know that your brain can create its own reality separate from the humdrum world that us other poor schmoes have to endure?

Polycarp - way to denigrate poor old Nickrz. I would be afraid that if we do that Chronos will start lording it over the other people in GQ. We all know how he is. Nevertheless the idea merits discussion.

Can I get my title changed to “Moderator in Limbo”? That is what I am, technically.

How loooow can he gooooo?!

This is not entirely modesty speaking here, but more appropriate than a “moderator emeritus” title would be a general-purpose “staff” one, which would also apply to Colibri, Doug, Karen, and all of the other folks writing Staff Reports who aren’t moderators. If I were to have a custom title, I’d want “Royal Astronomer to the Court of King Cecil”

By the way, “former moderator emeritus” would be redundantly repetetive.

Do I get a hat?

Only if you deal with Chronos turning my compliment of him and you into a semantic nitpick first!

I like the idea of seeing “Staff” under those posters that write staff reports…It took me a while to connect some of the names I was seeing on the main page with names on the boards. I’m sure quite a lot of work goes into those reports, and it would be nice to be able to acknowledge those people here, at least more than is done in CSR.
