Maybe instead of Guests having a 30 day trial period, they should just have limited threads and replies. Some websites offer different kinds of status according to how much you pay, something kind of like below:

T = Thread you can post per year
R = Replies you can post per year
V = SDMB threads, Cecil columns, $ Member profiles that you can click on to view per year

Registered User (free): T1, R10, V50
Silver Member ($4): T3, R30, V100
Gold Member ($15): Unlimited posts and views, plus other

I think your numbers are a little low. Very very low, in fact. I view more like 100 threads a day for my $4.95.

I think the mods and admins have gotten this figured out already.

Plus, Cecil columns have nothing to do with the board. They are discussed here, yes, but not viewed here.

100 a day? I hope thats an exageration. And that $4.95 is soon to be three times as much for everyone else. Plus I wasn’t suggesting those numbers, I was suggesting the idea, it was just an example.

But why do we need yet another payment model suggestion thread, when the Reader has committed to one which has already exceeded expectations? It’s not like this type of model hasn’t been suggested in one of the innumerable subscription threads already. They’ve clearly made their decision, and it seems to be working out in the short term. Let’s see if it works for them and us for a while.
