Guild Wars 2 general discussion

I login on occasion; I’m on Tarnished Coast, and would be happy to hop on and provide any assistance.

Speaking of which: if none of the others expect to be playing on Tarnished Coast, could you at least make me an Officer so I can manage guild duties in your absence? I think pretty much everything in the guild stash (as of last check) was stuff I had put in there.

See, that is the issue. When everyone is on different servers, it takes much, much longer to earn influence for the guild and being so small to start with…

I haven’t payed in a while…computer issues have left things just fine for web browsing, but not for playing games…but I just logged on and checked; you are an officer now.

Thanks, Suburban Plankton.

I’m not against changing servers, but I don’t want to do it several times a year. When I signed up with GW2, there were a fair number of active dopers on my current server (the other server wouldn’t let me choose it). I’m fine paying to move once, if it seems reasonably certain we’ll settle there.

I’ve moved over to Tarnished Coast, too.

Welcome! I hope to see you this weekend.

My highest character is only level 40; I have the disease that afflicts some of us, altitis. While I do like my Ranger, I find my Warrior is just plain funner.

I moved to Tarnished Coast a couple months ago. Even though I haven’t played for more than a month, I really like it there and will return to the game before long. I belong to a great guild, Hammerfist Clan, which you can check out here: http://www.hammerfistclan.com/forum/f161/

Sorry, I missed that another guild was offered on Tarnished Coast. Didn’t mean to compete with that.

I agree that Tarnished Coast is a fantastic server, whether or not you’re in the doper guild. Great community, particularly in WvWvW.

Anybody still playing this? I picked it up a week ago, and it hasn’t grabbed me. I’ve been playing a norn… um… cleric? running around bashing things with a mace, and I get the idea that there’s a lot of the game out there to learn, but the in-game instructions don’t seem to be too useful, about on the level of “run around and hit your 1 key over and over again, w00t!” Fortunately, that seems to work so far.

It sounds like you have picked a Guardian class to play. Very good choice and very versatile. However, ditch the mace and shield for him. The Guardian rolls best with a great sword and staff. The hammer is also great on that class. You should have no problem soloing the game with that class but it is also great in PvP/WvW for support. There is a bit of a learning curve but I think you’ll have fun with it.

I will be crafting my first legendary weapon, Meteorlogicus probably within a week.

No sprechen ze francaise…

I’m pretty sure it is Dutch, but what they are saying isn’t the point. I linked to that to show the scepter, that video had the best views of Meteorlogicus.

Just pokin’ fun. Your accent in that video is pretty good!

You’ll get out of it what you put into it. By paying attention and exploring you’ll find out how complex and fun GW2 really is. Tons of new players started just this last weekend, and were blown away by the game. Check Reddit’s /r/Guildwars2 numerous “tips for new players” posts.

That isn’t me, of course. I just crafted the scepter last night.

I don’t know if anyone is still playing but can I please be made an officer in BDL? There is enough influence in the guild to start researching for a guild bank and that will come in handy for everyone.

I still log in and play from time to time. I was just going to go in and promote you, but my computer crashed while the game was loading, and it seems to have corrupted the game files. So as soon as I finish re-downloading 180,000-odd files, I’ll take care of it…

That sucks, but thanks.

Bump…sorry if this has been discussed earlier in the thread…does anyone know of some good tricks to get better at jumping? I’m doing better than when I first started, but I see players always traipsing along quickly on JPs and on their way to a vista, while I’m slowly building up my courage and ending up falling most of the time. It’s the one thing in this game that I find really annoying and is kind of a fly in the ointment.

Thanks in advance.
