guilty listening pleasures

They say confession is good for the soul, so here’s a chance for you to do your souls some good. Everybody who listens to music has a song or album that they know is utter, mindless crap. Despite that, in the face of all reason, you love and will always have a copy of it in your collection. When I was in high school, we called this “a secret groove”. We were young and stupid. I offer no apologies.

Anyhow, I’ll go first. My guilty pleasure is the first album by Christopher Cross. It evokes a time and place where I experienced great happiness. It may ber crap, but it’s crap with a lot of meaninng for me.

Okay, now it’s your turns.

Go-Gos. Anything they ever did.

Because I’m not telling ANYBODY about Air Supply.

O-Zone- Dragostea Din Tei.

The Carpenters, esp. Close to You. :o

Ahem…

I’ll tell you what I want, what I really, really want.
So I’ll tell you want I want, what I really, really want.

I like me some Spice Girls.

Meat Loaf. Bat Out of Hell.

Loud.

The Bee Gees - especially around their Saturday Night Fever period. chunk-a-chunk, chunk-a-chunka chunk chunka… jiiiive talkin’…

Agreed on that, and follow it up with some Stan Bush, Vince DiCola, Survivor, and especially STYX for more ROCKIN’.

“I Want To Be Somebody’s Baby,” as sung by Barry Manilow. I just love this song. Barry Manilow gets a lot of dissing, but sometimes ol’ beakface sure could belt it out.

I’d also add Journey.

C’mon Eileen by Dexy’s Midnight Runners.

If there’s something strange
In your neighborhood.
Who ya gonna call?
Ghost Busters!

Oh, yeah - I’ve got Journey’s “Greatest Hits” cd, and I do enjoy it.

Yes! What is it about that song?

I’m much too old for Look What You Started by Dan Baird, but that doesn’t matter.

I’ll post this and then go wash my hands thoroughly. I like to listen to Toby Beau . There, I said it.

Aqua - Cartoon Heroes

I have to add that I love alot of Dr. Demento’s stuff too, especially Weird Al’s polkas.

I love me some Pet Shop Boys…

Paul Hardcastle (Jazzmasters)

I love early Olivia Newton John. She had the voice of an angel.

Same with Karen Carpenter.

Oh come on, that’s nothing. Everybody like Dr Demento. I gave up something shameful and you answer with this?

LOL ok how about this. I own a couple of versions of “The Sound of Music”, the movie soundtrack, and the original Broadway cast album. I can sing every song, word for word, note for note.
yes Jayjay I know I am gay…
