Guitar God for eight minutes

Zappa’s “Peaches en Regalia.” Or the aforementioned “China Cat Sunflower” into “I Know You Rider.”

I think I’d do either Metallica’s Orion or I’d agree with MadPoet and say Master of Puppets. That second solo is impossible.

I was trying to think of what I would choose between anaesthesia and some other metallica solo… and you just took 'em!!! Prick.

I’d say Eric Clapton’s “Tears in Heaven”. I’m trying to play it right now, without much luck. Hell, anything from Clapton, really.

“I have a lot of good ideas, problem is most of them suck.” -George Carlin

I don’t need to sing? Chuck Berry’s Come On. Who will sing with my band?

No question - I’d be Jerry Garcia on October 9, 1990 at the Hampton Coliseum, playing the first notes of the first “Dark Star” since 1984. 13,000 people just pouring huge love energy back to the stage, I swear the building actually levitated into the air. I missed the “Attics of My Life” encore, having gotten a little too high and wandered outside.

A lot of Pink Floyd above, but nobody seems to want what I want:

to play the bass on “One of These Days”

I’m your only friend
I’m not your only friend
But I’m a little glowing friend
But really I’m not actually your friend
But I am

Whatever the hell it was that Hendrix was playing on that apocryphal night when Les Paul felt moved to say, “Damn, who is that guy?” It must have genuinely rocked.

Well, among my guitar thumpin’ longhaired rock ‘n roll pals over the years there was this story, about “How Hendrix got discovered.” According to this story, Les Paul was with some friends, at a club, to see someone who was performing. The got there early, and were chatting, and Hendrix was playing in the opening act. During Jimmi’s solo, Les Paul turns around in mid song, and says, “Damn, who is that guy?”

No way of knowing if it is true, of course, but for the purposes of God of Guitar fantasies it will do.
