I’m getting pretty excited about Sunday’s release of Guitar Hero 3. So much so, in fact, that I’ve been playing the demo just about every night to tide me over. What are your thoughts on it now that Neversoft is in charge of the series? Except for what they’ve done to Judy Nails, I mostly approve of the changes.
You know I’m not all that excited about this one. I picked up the last two on the day they came out, this one I’m going to wait. I just checked and I’m only interesed in 10 songs or so, not enough to get me to buy it.
Yeah, I kind of agree. The only thing I really care about is the set list, and the set list for this one is a little limp, comparatively speaking.
Also, I’m pretty sure Rock Band is due in for Christmas, and that sounds like too much fun to be ignored.
This will be my first Guitar Hero to pick up and I’m honestly pumped about the song list (which is the major reason behind my purchase). Of course the Sunday release pisses me off, mostly because that’s the day I leave for a month of work on the road. I was hoping to get at least some play time in, but now I need someone to pick up my pre-order and pretty much wait until December to play it.
Oh yeah I forgot this was about to come out.
Guess I won’t hear from my boyfriend for awhile.
(I’d play it constantly with him but he’s 2 hours away, so I have to rely on phone calls, which I foresee as dropping off when this game comes out)
I’m pretty pumped but I stupidly pre-ordered from Red Octane rather than just reserving a copy at the local EB Games. I live in Canada so I’ll be lucky to get it within a week.
I can’t wait! So many songs by the original artists… drool I was so tempted to pre-order it a few weeks ago, but I’ll probably save it for a Christmas present so I don’t have to pay 80 bucks myself. Maybe I can rent it when I go home next time… I’m going to miss Pandora; I’m not a fan of the new Pandora/Judy Nails melding. At least Casey Lynch is still there.
If any of you are getting for the Xbox 360, feel free to add my gamertag to your list. It’s Storm Ravynn for anyone interested.
This is by far my biggest gripe with the game as I said earlier. Judy has long been my favorite character and her new look is awful. I guess they felt they had to sex her up to please horndog teenagers.
I’m also not sure that I’m going to like guitar battles. The power up attacks look more annoying than fun. I’ll give them a try though before I decide though.
Come to us…come to the Halo side…you know you can’t resist forever…
You must play…yes…you must…you must…you MUST!
I bought an Xbox360 in anticipation of Rock Band, and I downloaded the Guitar Hero 3 demo yesterday and played through the five songs. They’ve sure made hammer-ons and pull-offs a lot easier - I hit a lot of fast runs that I never thought I was close on, and would have failed on GH2.
Some of the changes seem to be for the better, some for the worse. The star power meter is harder to see while you’re playing. The “100 note run!” messages flashing in your face can be annoying. I think the note circles and the fretboard are a little harder to read, but that could just be because I’m used to the other one.
I’ll definitely be buying it when it comes out, but I expect it to only keep me occupied until Nov 20, when Rock Band appears. From the sounds of it, Rock Band is going to relegate my Guitar Hero games to the shelf.
Go play with your silly helmet while we stay over here and play with our…
uhm… silly guitar.
Wow. The song list is exactly the reason I want this one. I like way more songs in this one than the previous games. But I guess that’s because I am an old man. heh.
