A) Where was the incident where General Schwartzkoff (sp?) and his troops were met on the beach by the media?
B) What year was our second, but short-lived, attack on Iraq? This was a short-lived bombing raid around 1997? And, wasn’t the UN more cooperative then regarding this justified punishment for a defiant Iraq? (I’d like to ask why we couldn’t have done the same now, but I fear I might get the boot to IMHO!)
A) That was probably the Marine Expeditionary Unit landing in Somalia in 1992, where the unopposed nighttime amphibious landing was met by the glare of CNN cameras. Still pisses me off.
Not sure about “A”, but i think “B” was a short set of air raids on Iraq as punishment for forcing out UN weapons inspectors in 1998. It was called “Operation Desert Fox” and it lasted 4 days. It was a joint effort by the US and Britian.
On Jan. 7, 1993, U.S. and allies launched 40 cruise missiles at Iraqi missiles and other sites after Iraq refused to move them out of southern Iraq.
Or maybe you’re thinking of the retalition for the assassination plot againt ex-president Bush. Clinton ordered those missile strikes on June 27, 1993.

Yeah, thanks UncleBill and Telemark…that’s it!
Yeah, that’s the ticket! Memory’s a little rusty… - Jinx
1998: We launched more cruise missles this year than in the entire Gulf War of 1991. This was the year many Dems are reminded of now, because in support of Clinton they made remarks such as ‘force is necessary to disarm Iraq’, etc ,etc.
(disclaimer: NOT picking on Dems. Both sides play those games)
