Putting aside the debate about the idiotic threats, it’s debatable that the gun is safer. While a kid may not be able to shoot himself or others, it’s pretty near useless as a defensive weapon and could put the user at higher risk.
The company has not provided failure rates anywhere that I can find and a gun that relocks if your hand moves more than 15 inches away and requires a lengthy and cumbersome procedure to re-enter the PIN is not a safer gun.

What did I do to support crazies? There is a man, a man who saw that selling a certain kind of gun would enable a law that castrates the 2nd Amendment. He feels so strongly that a gun store shouldn’t contribute to the evisceration of a Constitutional Right that he engaged in threats of violence. Where did I say I’m in favor of violence? I’m not. That man should go straight to the polls and vote for a candidate that will support whatever political and social positions are important to him. I gather he’ll also do that, until he’s convicted of a felony, after which he may not be able to vote for one or another reason.
I rather doubt arson is a misdemeanor anywhere.

It’s probably obvious, but Cliven Bundy has invigorated and emboldened the gun-nutter and militia types. They’ve claimed their first victory and are looking for the next one. We should expect more of this.
