Shit. Going to need some whiskey and time alone with a copy of Better Days tonight.
Well, hell. He wrote lots of great songs but to me “Randall Knife” stands out since it chokes me up every time I hear it. The title song ( about his long time partner/wife) form his last album “My Favorite Picture of you” was also very touching.
Damn. Sad to see you go, but you did have a good run, sir.
Wow…another one. RIP. Let him roll.
It’s “The Cape” that gets me every time., but “Dublin Blues” was always my favorite of his songs.
I remember a very young Guy & a very young Townes, passing the guitar & trading songs. Back when they were Houston folkies. Just before legend Mickey Newbury convinced them to move to Nashville. (There was a table made from a cable spool, a hanging light bulb in a paper “Tiffany” shade, cheap red wine & lots of smoke.)
The Austin Chronicle offers this article from 2013:
Stuff that works. Guy Clark was a wonderful songwriter. Thanks for your great music.
Guy was another one of the masters of classic Country and Western. I’ll raise a bottle to him this evening knowing that, though he’s not in this world any longer, his music will always be with me.
He’s finally off that LA freeway… and down the road in a cloud of smoke.
Nice article in the New Yorker
Thanks for that. I have to track down Heartworn Highways!
Come on Jack, the son-of-a-bitch is coming.
Dang. I don’t know enough about his music, but I’ve really enjoyed and admired what I’ve heard.
I just read the New Yorker tribute and came in to post a link. Glad to see it already here. Yeah, I gotta find that doc - is it on Netflix?

Is that okay?
You can rent it through Amazon Prime as well. After watching the trailer, I can’t wait to watch this over the weekend. Anyone know where I can pickup an outfit like David Allan Coe’s?
Just found the Heartworn Highways Revisited website. With some Last Thoughts on Guy…
