Guys, what "chick flick" do you secretly love?

My personal favorite is The Man Who Loved Women starring Burt Reynolds, Julie Andrews, Kim Basinger, and Marilu Henner.

It has a marvelously funny scene involving Burt and Kim, a white shag rug, a belt, a Rolls-Royce, a poof dog, and a tube of Krazy Glue.

Besides, you get to see Marilu Henner’s chestal protrusions.

Oh yes, and here’s another vote for Defending Your Life. Albert Brooks at his best.

10 Things I Hate About You was a great movie… I’m not sure if it is that much of a chick-flic tho…

Sixteen Candles is pretty good, and I also liked Clueless.

I loved The First Wive’s Club

Comments on other movies mentioned…

Return to Me, first movie I ever saw with my wife. We both didn’t like it.

Sleepless in Seattle, It’s my wife’s favorite movie. She’s hates when I point out that there’s no reason to think they’ll stay together.

Dude Where’s My Car - The scene between Andy Dick and Brent Spiner is enough to call that movie a classic.

Toepick!

Way to go ArchiveGuy!

I don’t know if it made as big a splash in the US as it did in Europe but this has to be one of my all time favourite films, although not your standard rom let alone com (it’s real sad). If you have not seen it I strongly recommend you go and rent it, so long as you can handle subtitles (it’s a French/Polish production).

And guys, if you want some eye candy check out the female lead, Irène Jacob:

Stunning eh?

Most of my favorites have been mentioned, already (Sleepless in Seattle, Return to Me, etc.). But I will add Firelight and Addicted to Love.

And maybe When Night is Falling, if that one counts.

Wings of Desire
The Truth About Cats and Dogs

I am gonna lose all tough-guy privileges for saying this (and may have to Pit myself later), but I have seen A Walk to Remember five times now and have not yet managed to walk away with a dry eye.

I love that movie. And I’ll kick the crap out of anyone who objects.

An Angel at My Table by Jane Campion. Watched it maybe 10 times. I’m always engrossed by the photography and Kerry Fox’s performance.

A quick scan through the DVD collection shows I own a number of chick flicks;

Pretty Woman
Erin Brockovitch
Four Weddings And A Funeral
Notting Hill
Bridget Jones’s Diary
Tin Cup
Dances With Wolves

Also, these could be considered chick flicks by some people;
Clueless
Y Tu Mama Tambien
Indecent Proposal
Moulin Rouge
Thelma And Louise
Fatal Attraction (for the psycho chicks)

… and yes, I did buy them all because I like them. not because I was conned into by a devious ex-gf or something.

So not a chick flick!

I didn’t expect this, but this thread is turning into a great reference of films I should see.

And nobody’s said “Yaya Sisterhood” yet. I think that counts. Great movie (sniff).

<grabs the tissue from Happy Scrappy Hero Pup>

I too enjoy romantic comedies; the Tom and Meg movies are pretty good. My favorite is probably Enchanted April. Good story and beautiful cinematography.

I’ll vote for Strictly Ballroom and Sense and Sensibility.

My Best Friend’s Wedding because it reminds me so much of me and my best friend, except with genders reversed…and she’s never been close to getting married. But I could see it happening.

And, yes, I cried at the end of Titanic.

Not sure if this one qualifies but I liked Children of a Lesser God

Chick flick or just a great movie?

Why not? What stops it being a chick flick; the sensitive coming of age story, the humor, the sadness, the full frontal male nudity?

I also liked - The Man in the Moon.

With the young Reese Witherspoon (Grrrrrrowl).
