I’d have to say my favorite toy would be my mini-loader like this one. My wife and I have wanted a couple of quads for quite some time, just have not got around to buying them yet. And I do not consider our boat a toy…
So guys and gals, whats your favorite toy? It can be hand held or have wheels or tracks, anything
If we’re talking toys like practical items used as fun I’d say my kitchen aid mixer
If you mean kid toys I’d have to say my Monopoly stuff!
I’m not coordinated enough to ride a bike or rollerblade anymore Too many inner ear infections led to no balance. When I was younger we’d go dirt biking or go karting a lot and it was a riot too
The computers are hubby’s favorite toys. I’m geek by association
My MP3 player would probably be the toy I get the most enjoyment out of. I have an Archos Jukebox and I use it pretty much every day. I love having a ton of music at my finger tips.
I must say I’m a little jealous about your toy Phlosphr. That looks like it’d be alot of fun. When I worked in construction during university, I loved bombing around on the forklifts and bobcats.
evilhomer - Here here! I on the other hand never had a chance to use construction equipment in college and only bought onw when I was pretty well established. I decided to learn how to operate this mini loader…it’s not that big 5 ton…but hey I’ve built rock walls, foundations, tree houses, would-be hobbit holes the lot! I love it.
Hmmm, my computer is really the only “grown-up” toy that I own (not counting tv/vcr/dvd). My car’s too boring to be a toy, my kitchen appliances too basic, my crafty stuff not nearly gagety enough.
If we’re talking real-for-real TOYS though, I absolutely LOVE vintage Fisher Price. I spend inordinate amounts of time trolling e-bay looking for thirty, forty, or fifty year old toys that I then spend way too much money on just because they’re so great. They really don’t make 'em like that anymore. Of course, I justify it by saying that they’re for my toddler; but the truth of the matter is that I spend just as much time–if not more–playing with them as he does.
I have a loader and scraper on mine. Also wheel weights and wider front tires.
It also has ‘decals’ on both sides of the loader arms - ‘BINFORD 5000’ (Tim Allen Reference). The previous owner’s friend did that.
In low, low, low gear. The wheels turn about as fast as a second hand on a watch.
My newest favorite is a Senco Palm Nailer. Broke down and got a compresser I did. Framming nailer too. But the Palm Nailer is great. A lifesaver for putting the additon on my home. Lots of odd stuff going on.
indoors: Ashton AB1500 4 string bass and 600 watt neighbour terrorising amp
outdoors: TOY-ota landcruiser and off road camper trailer.
Boat 19ft bertram bowrider and 100HP merc outboard
spearfishing and dive gear (there’s a whole other world down there)
automotive: 1960 MGA convertable
The stuff I mentioned are really come down on the tool side of toys. I enjoy working on the house I do. So my tools are also my fun. Gonna buy a Ramset this weekend (I hope).
But. I did buy a 1978 Yamaha 650 vertical twin 2 years ago. Been working on it. The last guy that owned it, rebuilt the engine 180 degrees off. I collected the bike (read parts) and put it back together.
Except it would NOT start. Everything checked out. Fuel, Timing, Spark, Compression.
Because of the way the engine is set up, 180 off gave me perfect timing on my light. It was not untill I checked the individual valve positions against the timing that I figured out what was going on.
I switched the left coil to the right cylinder and visa-versa, and instand motorcycle.
I must be the only one that came in here thinking the OP was about something other than construction equipment.
I have lots of favorite tools. Probably my two most favorite are (1) my SnapOn ratcheting screwdriver and (2) my SnapOn curlyQ tool. It’s really a cotter pin puller but it’s nifty for just about anything.
