GWB: The Greatest President Since Abraham Lincoln

Libertarian

Truly a great thing. Thank you so much.

No worries. Most folks around here don’t even think he’s been the greatest president since Clinton.
:stuck_out_tongue:

Will someone kindly strike the “aren’t” from the previous sentence? Thanks…

Wow, that was great! But I didn’t know they still had the tape recorder running in the Oval Office.

I’m more offended by the ignorance this shows of Lincoln than of anything else. Must we have cartoon visions of EVERYTHING now?

It’s funny 'cause it’s not false.

You know, I could swear black and blue that if you put the voice of Smithers to Andrew Card, and the voice of Mr Burns to GWB in that skit and the voice of the Mayor to Dick Cheny, you could just visualise it playing out so humourously on the Simpsons…

Lib, that read like something out of “Doonesbury: The Reagan Years”

Gotta admit, Lib.

Home run, man…home run.

Bush is the greatest president since Clinton.

[sub]Note: Since this is a sample of one, it’s not an actual achievement.[/sub]

Beautiful, Libertarian. SNL needs you.

Just wonderful.

Libertarian’s post: best thing I’ve read on this board in a long while. Applause.

I’m with you here:

Both were “war presidents”
Both had detractors
Both had supporters
Both were fucking morons, oops, that one doesn’t actually apply to both

Don’t we ever get to stop hearing the GOP partisans claiming theirs is “the party of Lincoln”? That hasn’t been true in any meaningful sense since the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Party of Lincoln, party of Cadillac. Whatever.

But all of a sudden it is relevant that the GOP is the party of Warren G. Harding, Calvin Coolidge and Herbert Hoover, to say nothing of William McKinley. Anybody remember the Philippine Insurrection?

Hell, remember the Philippine colonization? “Take up the White Man’s burden” and all that? The artificially-induced war fever over the sinking of the Maine, for that matter? McKinley is a damn fine role model for today’s version of his party, at least internationally, and props to **Spav ** for pointing it out.

But let’s keep going with this just for fun:

For willingness to circumvent the election process in order to gain office, Bush is the head of “The Party of Hayes”.

For domestic policies targeted at the gain of friends and contributors at the expense of the nation, he’s the head of “The Party of Grant”, but “The Party of Harding” works just as well.

For the seriousness with which he has taken the seriousness of the economy and unemployment, yep, you got “The Party of Hoover” about right - except that Hoover at least tried a little.

For the way he has run, or let be run, the White House in terms of identifying and punishing perceived enemies, as well as ignoring the principles we believe we stand for in foreign policy, Bush is the head of “The Party of Nixon”.

This is fun - anybody got some other good ones?

It’s far too funny for saturday night live. It really is a work of art, Lib.

Lincoln wore a hat
Lincoln had an ass

GWB - you can see where this one goes …
