No! Fuck this crap! “Democrat politician” matches “Republican politician.” I will be so glad when my fellow Democrats get over this shit and stop whining about a grammatical quirk.
John:
I have on any number of occasions expressed my abiding respect for the honest conservative. I operate under the assumption that people here are smart enough to catch my drift, and smart enough to know who I am talking about. I had pretty much figured you were part of that set, but if you insist otherwise, so be it.
That was mean.
Or accurate.
Match? MATCH? What are you, 12?
According to the dictionary, “Democrat” is a noun, “Democratic” is an adjective, and “Republican” is both a noun *and *an adjective. Saying “Democrat politician” is ungrammatical and damned annoying, because nouns can’t modify other nouns. Fuck matching, use proper English.
Fear: FYI, in this post (which was actually in a thread about this topic) it is clear that adaher is not claiming involvement by Obama in this “scandal”.
He explicitly says “no evidence” that Obama was involved.
Got any other gems hidden up your sleeve?
Well, it all started with “Democrat Party,” you know.
Yet. Clearly, his opinion is evolving.
Who, Obama, adaher or both?
It is clear from your cite that adaher’s opinion is evolving, and as of this morning, he thinks the administration gave the orders.
Can we all agree that **adaher **is as correct as often as a clock made by a blind watchmaker?
Oh, you were being serious?
In that case, let’s invite him in here to clear things up. I don’t think the post you cited says what you think it does.
I cannot envision a political world where partisanship has reached a level where opponents of a sitting President would conjure up bullshit to make him look bad. We have decorum in this country, folks.
Do I detect a note of sarcasm?
Oh no, it’s at least a bar of sarcasm. Maybe even a ditty.
Or perhaps an aria?
Let me explain my view. I do not believe Obama ordered the targeting in the sense that he passed orders down through the normal chain of command. However, I do believe Obama is responsible for the targeting for two reasons:
-
It’s his administration. The buck stops with him. This was uncontroversial during the Bush years, it shouldn’t be controversial now. Democratic accountability requires that a President be responsible for his administration, which is unelected. If he can’t control it, then the voters can’t control it and we don’t live in a democracy or a republic anymore. We live in an unaccountable bureaucratic state.
-
The President has constantly slandered these groups. If the Tea Party movement can be held accountable for illegal acts of people not even really connected to it, due to their rhetoric, then the President is definitely accountable for the actions his own employees take in response to the things he says. He said that these groups were “shadowy”, and possible illegal. Not only the IRS, but many other parts of the government, responded accordingly, from the EPA to the ATF.
So no, he didn’t order it, but he’s responsible for it, and the public is so far holding him responsible for it, just as the public normally holds Presidents responsible for their administrations’ actions.
If bamboozling and stampeding the people into a futile and illegal war is on the same moral plane as insufficiently diligent oversight, you have a point.
Never said it was. The seriousness of the wrongdoing is not relevant to the responsibility for the wrongdoing.
Although you have to admit, Bush wasn’t in the habit of blaming his underlings for failures. That’s all Obama ever does.
That’s only because he was too stupid to tell if they were fucking up at their jobs or not.
