I would sure switch to an alternative if I could think of one.
I have discovered Marco Polo. It’s like messenger, but with the video chatting component. It has helped me cut back on my Facebook surfing.
That, and I blocked about 5 Facebook friends that were raising my blood pressure by posting dumbass memes that I didn’t agree with.
I have tried Marco Polo just a time or two and frankly am distracted by my nostril hair. has it always looked like that?
but, yeah, you gotta avoid some of those people on facebook. there are a lot who couldn’t be more horrible/wrong/stupid.
@LouLou7 but have things changed for you - facebookwise - since Covid?
there is some kind of badge you get when you share a link “on a line by itself” that I want to try. not because I want a badge (of course I don’t care! I mean it!) but I want to see what a “one box” is.
let’s see if I can make one…
ETA: that should have made a “onebox” but I don’t see it.

I have cut my usage way back as the incessant stream of stupidity from both left and right is endless. Facebook seems to amplify the dumbest, most thoughtless people from both sides. It’s tiresome.
it’s possible to customize things so your feed only shows, for example, cute animal videos. but there is a lot of work involved in making the changes.
probably better to just be on facebook LESS.
and yet, I am not.
Yep. And for some reason, I find it more infuriating when it comes from people I mostly agree with, politically – I’d like to think that “my” side would be better than that, but I’m forced to admit that a lot of the time it just isn’t true. (I feel sort of the same way every four years during primary season, so having them BOTH back to back is … rough.)
I know what you mean. If I see one more 'facemasks are a hoax to bring about the new world order!" post from my relatives, I may have to rampage. And no one wants to see me rampaging.
