Hadn't even noticed

Been raining here since the 10th. No break predicted for yet another whole week.

What with everything that’s been going on, I hadn’t even noticed I haven’t seen the Sun in 7 days. A friend mentioned it tonight. Things on my mind, you know? Hmm.
What hadn’t you noticed that was pretty self evident to everyone else?

Whether Ken Jennings was/is still on Jeopardy. I just take it for granted now, like some oxygen in the atmosphere and the oil that drips from my car.

Still raining.

I managed to get to the age of 43 without noticing that Thanksgiving is always on a Thursday.

Shit really?! I always though it was just luck to get that really long weekend!

I used to wonder how people knew when they had to run for the Metro at a certain station, and when they could stroll down quietly because the Metro wasn’t there yet. I tried judging by sound for the longest time but never could detect the presence or absence of the train.

One day, on my way down the escalator at that station, I was discussing it with a friend who was laughing at me for not having figured it out yet. I exclaimed “Well it’s not like you can see it from here!” And at that second, for the first time ever, I noticed that there was a small area of the track visible from my exact location on the escalator. Three steps up or down and you can’t see it, but right there, you have a view of a tiny bit of track, enough to know if the train is there waiting for you.

Took me a good 6 years of very regular Metro use to figure that out. :smack:
