Haha- fuck you Oafrah!

Can’t you read?

Try to keep up.

My stance is not based on “facts”.
That has been painfully obvious from your very first post. Perhaps you should reconsider your devotion to baseless content-free blitherings?
You can offer this gem from the Wiki article, you mean. With its AP quotes. But of course, you couldn’t be expected to know that a link to where you got the quote from was de rigueur here at the Straight Dope, you bein’ a n00b and all…oh wait.

[pause for a rolleyes that’s been building up for four pages now]

Again, what do you want from her–blood? She rushed to her daughters’ side as soon as she knew there was a problem, and laid about her with a mighty swift sword. Heads rolled. What else do you wannnnnnnt? she wailed in despair, wringing her hands.

K.

I’ll bite.

What facts do you have that I don’t? And, conversely, what facts do I have that you don’t? And remember, show your work. And if your head explodes during this exercise, it’s not my fault.
So she didn’t say the quote, or I didn’t present it properly?
I’m not sure the molested girls deserve any help, really. It just wouldn’t be fair to the millions of children suffering from worse abuse, or those who can get no help at all.

And please, Oprah didn’t have to build a school in South Africa for South Africans to notice a divide between the uber wealthy and the dirt poor. I mean, it can’t possibly be news that there are some bloody rich people in SA.

Oprah’s school seems a bit like an Ivy League that only lets in scholarship students. How horrific.
If other students in the Harvard area were living in sqaulor and no other adequate schools were arounds to teach them, your analogy would be apt.
Ah, can’t mount a response, so you go for the name calling- good choice.
What sort of response can I give to something that stupid? She bears moral blame for the teacher’s assault because she built the school where the assault happened? The fact that I need to explain to you how stupid that is, is itself a clear indicator that you’re too dumb to understand the explanation.
" Oprah will be among those inspiring these girls, teaching leadership classes via satellite. "
OK, who ever approved that at NW is stupid too.

As for marble tiles and other opulence, this is OPRAH’S MONEY. It’s not public money, it’s not even little old ladies sending in pension checks to televangelists, this is a billionaire capitalist’s private fortune. If she wants 14 carat plated toilet seats then it’s her call; she didn’t have to give 45 cents to South Africa (which would be more than I’ve ever given). If somebody gives you a $45 million gift and they say they want marble tiles, by god have marble tiles.
Again YOU amid your attempts at humour are missing the point. My stance is not based on “facts”. My stance is, she goes on and on and on her show about her girsl and how she is so into what they are doing and all of them and on and on. this proves she’s not. Everyone on else going on about how she did everything by the book and couldn’t have done any wrong are the ones who are claiming to have facts they don’t have.
Hey, shithead. No one has claimed that she couldn’t have done anything wrong. What’s been pointed out to you, again and again, is that there’s absolutely no evidence that she did do anything wrong. The cite that you yourself provided in the second post of this thread presents Oprah as a charitable woman who immediately took responsibility when something went wrong in one of her organizations, and did everything in her power to rectify the situation. And yet, you persist in villifying her, despite the fact that every single one of your attempts at character assassination has been shot down, repeatedly, by a half dozen different posters. What the hell is it going to take to get you to shut the fuck up? How many times does it have to be demonstrated to you that your criticisms have no basis in either fact or rational thought before you man up and just admit you were fucking wrong about this?

She certainly can, just as I can call it wasteful.

I can’t stand Oprah. I thought when she opened the school “heh, not like there’s no needy girls here, in the US, where she’s based”.

But like Sampiro said, it’s her damn money (well, except for the ‘damn’).

And, dislike her all you want, but she did handle this better than most public institutions would have - she was on the spot faster than you or I would have been, and took what really is swift, decisive action. Including appointing someone to independently investigate the whole thing.

Please address this specific post:

I say either she knew what was going and did nothing (0.00001% percent chance) or she did **not ** know what was going on and is a big phony by claiming over and over she was on top of the daily events. No one says she should have this knowledge, no one fucking expects her to. She makes the claim. I watch the goddamn show every fucking day, I hear it over and over. I’ll try to sort throught my bound volumes of Oafrah transcripts to get you the specific cite, like that’ll fucking matter.

Now instead of abstract dismissals, please address what you feel the problem to be with the above. that and my opinion that the money could have been better spent on a less opulent school for more kids are the claims I have made. For a minute drop the grandstanding and address, por favor.

Yeah, you’d have to be stupid to think Oprah knows anything about leadership just because she runs some businesses and a TV production company and a magazine and some charities and made herself an ungodly sum of money along the way.

I can understand thinking the woman (I call her Oprah Foster Kane) is too big for her britches, but I don’t see the crime she’s committed against Wee Bairn.
because it happened to me too…
