Hair color help!

Well, I went and buggered up my hair color. I tried to save some money by coloring/highlighting it myself, and it is now a “strawberry orange” color instead of the coconut blonde color it was SUPPOSED to be. Anyone have any suggestions on how I can remedy the situation? I would shave my head, but I have a wedding (not my own) to attend tonight.
I believe an ash color may be helpful.
Any other sugg’s?
Gracias.

Well, first this probably belongs in IMHO, and I’m sure a helpful moderator will be a long to move it for you any minute.

Second, I would suggest you hie thee to your local beauty supply store, and purchase another set of bleaching powder and 40 volume creme developer, but make sure you get some of the treatment specifically designed to minimize the red/orange. You can purchase a small vial of drops to add to your mixture that will remedy this. I would suggest using the Kaleidecolors tonal lightening powder in Blue, as it seems to give the best results while minimizing red/orange tones.

Mix that with some Unred color fixer and apply over your highlights. That should take care of the red tones.

Don’t color it a second time yourself! Go to a professional and have them treat it, if you don’t want to wind up with hair like straw (yuck).

Actually, this won’t be a problem if you use a deep conditioning product like Ion Repair Solutions.

I’ve bleached / colored / highlighted my hair numerous times in every color / combination imaginable, and while I have had problems with dry, brittle hair, I’ve found that the Ion treatment works wonderfully. And especially if she’s only doing highlights, I don’t suspect that it should be a problem. The only time I had any difficulty with straw-like hair was when I bleached my entire head, and then it was only the second bleaching within a matter of weeks that produced the brittle results. Shouldn’t be a problem if you use a good conditioning treatment.

I like strawberries. Hope everything turned out ok with the hair.
