Usually my hair is red. However, a while back, I started shedding like a sheep dog, and it was looking really thin.
So, I decided to color it black, to make it look ‘thicker’. Believe it or not, it sort of worked - perhaps the light sink that was my hair was distracting the eye from its limited quantity.
But THEN - I visited my friendly neighbourhood dermatologist who informed me that my hair was falling out because of stress (go figure), but that Rogaine was just the thing to bring it back. So, about a month ago, I started with the Rogaine, and low and behold, it’s working! I have cute little baby hairs coming in!
Hooray!
So, I decided to fry the shit out of them with bleach!
Uh, no. That’s not it.
I decided to get the nasty black out of my hair (no more Morticia Adams for me!) and go back to my lovely red. So, I bought the bleach, and a box of red, which is a pretty close approximation of my real color, and I’m doing it right now!
But - it’s a two step process - the bleach first.
Now, I’ve never been blond. I think I’m going to be blond for about 16 minutes, just to see how I feel.
Humm - well, my first few minutes as a blond havn’t been that much fun because I had an alergic reaction to the bleach and coughed so much that I threw up my dinner.
And it was a yummy thai curry too.
Also, my eyes are rather swolen. For those who are interested, yes, I did was the product out of my hair.
Orange hair could be interesting. You’d stand out from the crowd! You could be like our receptionist at work–she came in with a different hair color almost every day this week. Not orange, though–she went from blonde to brown to lighter brown.
I want to dye my hair, but every time I do, it’s not much different from my normal color. I never do anything fun. Like blue. I think blue hair would look good one me. Maybe I’ll just get some highlights.
I’m not sure that my dog is going to recover from my retching fit - he keeps looking at me sideways like I’m going to barf a prawn on him or something.
However, my hair is funky. I have a half a mind to keep it like this until the SO sees it, and then tell him I did it on purpose. Hee.
Actually, haircolor on top of bleach is ok. Also, the color I’m going isn’t much different than the color I currently am. (Yes, my natural haircolor is somewhat orange. Hey - some people like that. :D)
Be careful you don’t end up with some ridiculous shade of orange after dyeing it. The bleach will bleach out the bluish tones first, and the dye may end up reinforcing the red and yellow.
Which would be a problem, except my natural hair color is…
Red and Yellow! Bah ba ba!
I’ve got the red dye on now. I’m keeping my fingers crossed - when I took Poochie-McBrown-Pants for his walk earlier, I was getting some strange looks with the “blond”.
My hair is naturally dark brown (well, the stuff that isn’t grey, anyway). It turns out that naturally dark brown hair absolutely LOVES purple hair dye. I used a semi-permanent dye once that was supposed to just dark brown with a purple sheen - I’ve used semi-permanents many times before, and had no misgivings whatsoever, since my hair is so dark. Well, my hair turned eggplant purple, and stayed that way a really long time - longer than any of the other semi-permanents that weren’t purple (well, it seemed that way, anyway).
Moral of my story - don’t dye your hair purple unless you actually want purple. And semi-permanents are fun. Related to the OP? Um, kind of, I guess. Actually, I died my hair black or very close to it once, and you’d think it would be okay on someone whose natural colouring is dark brown with black eyebrows and lashes, but it did not look good. Quel surprise, eh?
I always have to wait a few days to let the oil reaccumulate and distribute or it dyes patchy. With as much humor as you’ve shown on this thread, I’m sure you’ll get a kick out of whatever arrives when you wash it off.
