Hair color - womens' opinions.

Hey all, just an opinion issue here-

My hair has been turning white and grey in streaks (my natural color is black). I’ve always felt the streaks kinda looked cool / distinguished, but a few weeks ago, a female acquaintance of mine suggested that I might want to color it. It was just a remark in passing, but it left me wondering- what do women think of grey / white hair? (Or mixed, as mine is)

Are you male or female? Sorry I have no idea, but I don’t.

And I’m not sure what image you want to project, either.

I like a guy with salt and pepper hair but when it turns white, it ages you…so I guess it depends on how old you are.

I love gray/white hair. I color mine now, but if it starts to go white, I will let the color come in naturally.

For some years, my gray hair was a “battlesip” gray that I loathed! I always said that when it finally went silver, I’d let it go. Now, it’s going silver and I’m letting it go. One particular friend of mine insists that my hubby probably hates it, but is just too polite to tell me! (Boy is she off the mark! I don’t think my hubby would be polite to the Queen of England, lol). Really, he says he doesn’t mind, and I think it’ll be cool!

Ah, sorry- I’m male. Didn’t think that there might be a distinction.

I’m one of those folks who looks on people who color to try to hide grays as being a little vain. I have gray hairs. So what? I feel no need to try to hide the natural process of aging.

For some reason I think graying hair looks distinguished on men, and just makes women look older. Men age better than women, dammit!

I’m female and fighting the good fight against the gray myself, primarily because I have long hair and gray in long hair just doesn’t look right to me.

You know I usd to think that too and I yank 'em all out but I have a friend who has waste length hair. It used to be black but now has a genrous dose of silver. She is only in her early 40s but she just looks stunninng! She’s a very beautifulwoman and maybe that adds to it but it is just such a distinctive look for her. She’s 6’2" anyway and it’s just striking! Gray hair never looked so good on a woman.

My husband is gray/white with a tad of brown. It definitely makes him look older, but he’s not worried about it. And either am I.

I don’t have any gray yet. I’ll probably color it when it happens, though. I prefer blonde on me.

My girlfriend from Jr. High went gray at a very young age. She started coloring it a couple years ago, but still leaves some of the gray. It looks great.

My husband has black hair that’s turning grey (his beard, too). I love it. I think the salt and pepper look is very attractive.

Oooh, my sweetie and one of my best friends both have dark hair that is going salt-and-pepper, especially at the temples. I love it! My boyfriend spent the last couple of weeks with a beard, but decided that the grey in it made him look old and shaved it off. I think he’s equally gorgeous with and without the beard, but the grey is not a factor in my opinion. OK, well maybe it is; it’s sexy!

Okay, so no votes for ‘Ugh, grey hair on men looks totally awful’. Good to know. Self-esteem boost for the day.

Thanks much. Perhaps one day I will post a photo of my coif.

In my experience hair colour of a girl is usually irrelevant. (as long as it is long)

But there seems to be something about a select few ‘redheads’ that can drag you kicking and screaming into heaven.

Gray hair, salt and pepper hair, gray at the temples, etc. are all okay. Dull hair, or hair that looks more washed out than graying is not so sexy.
