Hair conditioners after bathing. What about hair in other body parts

Noted, but then again, I have been in the habit of going to the john before leaving to go anywhere - nothing quite as horrid as being stuck in traffic and needing to go.

ROTFLMAO

Good advice, given how long ER waiting times are.

Well the thing is that you can slather your body with all kinds of oils and moisturizers and those will likely also hit the body hair. But if you put those same oils and moisturizers on the hair on your head, it would probably gum up your hair.

I have long hair, and I only use conditioner on the bottom half. Conditioner is formulated just for hair, to do things like make it easier to comb, and shinier, stuff that isn’t relevant to other body hair, with the possible exception of beard hair. If you need detangler on your pubes then by all means use it but otherwise what’s the point?

nm misread the OP

Part of the reason for conditioner is to counter the actions of the shampoo.

Whatever you do, DO NOT SHAMPOO YOUR GROIN. For men, it’s not really necessary. For women, it’s going to mess up the balance.

Think of the last time you got shampoo in your eye. Nope, not going anywhere near the delicate area with shampoo.

I wouldn’t use condiitoner, but if my hands already had some conditioner on them, after applying to my head, I might use up the remainder on other hair.

:dubious:

I can certainly understand the need to avoid introducing large volumes of shampoo inside the vagina. But is lathering up the hairy exterior skin really going to cause internal chemistry problems?

For that matter, is bar soap really any better? (I’ll note here that for men - at least for this man - careless application of bar-soap lather can introduce suds into the tip of the urethra, which is extremely irritating.)

I don’t use conditioner anywhere. And mostly I wash my pubes with bar soap. But if I have extra shampoo on my hands after doing my hair, I may give the pubes a quick scrub. I’ve never gotten any shampoo in my vagina. ICK. I don’t get soap in the vagina, either. Those lips stay closed when I shower.

So, how long are you spending “washing” Mr Happy?

If a guy is smart, he learns his lesson after using soap as a lubricant just once, when he’s a teenager.

I meant “fully hairy like a balding ape”, not “has some body hair”.

I guess I’ve been sheltered… can’t say I’ve seen a whole lot of hairy people letting it all blow in the wind in the past few decades.

My “balance” isn’t affected by anything being lathered on my pubes. Assuming you meant vaginal pH, well, that’s an internal thing. Do you get soap in your mouth when you wash your face?

I will admit to accidentally squirting too much conditioner out into my hand, and - after thoroughly over-conditioning my head hair - wiping the rest onto my pubic hair. The alternative was to simply rinse it down the drain, so this seemed less wasteful, somehow.
I will add that the area’s hair was noticeably softer and seemed less coarse.

Finally, I note that ten years ago, I’d never have posted this. Five years ago, I’d have posted a condensed, less-detailed version while still thinking, “I am so gonna regret this some day.” So apparently, I have reached that age when zero fucks are given about the opinions of strangers.

I shall now go do a little happy dance!

I was thinking more moisture balance, as the skin around the vaginal opening is a bit different than other skin. Shampoo is overkill for cleaning bits and can cause skin irritation. Something to be avoided in general. Conditioner is milder and a little bit on the pubic hair can be quite nice.

Sure, if you don’t display it, then looks aren’t relevant. But I could see wanting to make body hair softer. What I’m unclear on is whether the types of conditioners for head hair would work well on the thicker, courser body hair.

I myself don’t do it, but I also only “condition” in the sense that my shampoo says it also conditions. And I even use a different, cheaper shampoo for the first rinse before applying that. (My hair is long enough that I have to repeat."

I was in a shared bathroom over the weekend. Someone left a bottle in the shower that said it was shampoo, body wash, and conditioner. So the guy who used that conditioned all of his hair.

If you remove pubic hair, when it starts growing back in, it itches like hell where it catches on your underwear. If you put conditioner on it, as PurpleHorseshoe says, it will be softer and not so itchy.

Just going to leave this here.
