How many of us here have acquaintances who were fervently Bernie? If you talked to them as I did, then you got an earful of pissed off about the revelations about the DNC and Bernie. You might have had conversations, as I have, trying to calm the waters, trying to bring them past “Never Hillary, because of what she did to Bernie!” to a “Well, if its Trump, then maybe.”
In several instances, among the saner and more reasonable, that argument was successful. Of course, I had lots of help. But not all. Now, this is anecdotal, but I doubt it is unique.
So, the Russian interference very likely soured some people who would have come around and voted against Trump by voting for Hillary. But how many? Are there more, or less, than 80,000 of them scattered across those marginal states? I doubt we know, I doubt we ever shall, how do you do polls for that, where do you gather evidence? But 80-90,000 over several states? Certainly possible. Won’t stretch to “likely” but certainly “possible”.
In which case, the Russian hacking may have decided the election. Without even paying serious attention to “hacking the voting machines”, which I currently consider ridiculous.
Did they know that, the Russians? Not likely, seems to me, more likely they just dumped everything they had just to stir the shit, sow dissension among Trumps opponents. And just got lucky.
Personally, I think the Comey debacle likely affected the results more than the DNC hacking, but it had some effect. And in five states with millions of voters, eighty thousand ain’t that much.
