I was glad to see this. Knowingly or unknowingly this company overcharged the American taxpayer. If it was knowingly, the company’s leadership should spend some time in prison, if unknowingly, they should have been more careful. Anyway, here is the link http://story.news.yahoo.com/fc?cid=34&tmpl=fc&in=Business&cat=Halliburton. I was surprised to find that noone had brought this up yet. When the facts came out that Haliburton did in fact overcharge, there were a few threads about it.
Is it just me, or is anyone else getting a blank article screen with that link?
Me too.
I think this:
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=568&e=2&u=/nm/20031231/bs_nm/iraq_halliburton_fuel_dc
is what the OP is talking about.
We had a fine, if somewhat tortured, thread going on Haliburton’s accounting problems back in mid-december:
Cheney’s Halliburton disaster continues, and Bush blunders again
Of course the pentagon’s sudden decision to expand the DESC’s fueling operations into the civilian sector has nothing to do with any perception of wrongdoing by Halliburton.
For those interested, here is a link about the French deciding whether or not to indict Cheney on bribery and other charges.
To quote (roughly) a former oil executive: “Halliburton has a strange way of doing their accounting. You always have to compensate for them overcharging.”
Damnit and I wanted a job with them!
Most of my family’s fortune had been derived from them…but it’s pretty widely known that Halliburton has what is tantamount to “fuzzy accounting.”
