Important information for those planning on making the rounds in doper neighborhoods.
I was at the store yesterday and got four bags on sale (two bags for five dollars). A bag each of snickers, almond snickers, reeses peanut butter cups, and peanut m&m’s. All “fun sized” but you’re allowed to grab a handful.
If you’ve stocked up on apples and raisins, prepare to be scorned.
We bought pretty much the same, but have a non-peanut option for kids with allergies. We also supplement the good stuff with the mixed bulk bags that contain things like tootsie rolls, bazooka, etc.
Oh, and we always double-up on the Reese’s peanut butter cups. Those are for me to eat when I’m handing out the candy.
nothing. No one comes to our door. Yea. When we lived other places, I’d pick up something on the way home from work on 10/31. No need to shop early for this holiday.
Dunno, first time with a house and a neighborhood with kids, after renting most of my life. Friend got a 150 piece bag from costcorp for me, hope this will be sufficient. Everyone telling me that it depends on the neighborhood. Play it by ear this year, as I will.
I’m about to bag up the goodies tonight. We’ve got mostly chocolate this year, plus the fun size Rice Krispy Treats and a couple of bags of pinata filling. The pinata filling has small cheap toys in it, as well as crappy candy, so my usual method is to distribute one toy and a couple of pieces of crappy candy in each bag, then put in about three of the better chocolate in each bag. We’ve got Snickers, Milky Way, and one other kind, I forget which one. My husband picked them out.
I’ve been handing out the pinata filling toys for a couple of years now, and the kids always seem to be blown away. The parents seem to be happy about their kids getting a small toy too. These things are cheaper than you get from most vending machines. I should have gone to a party supply shop and seen what I could buy, but I’ve been lazy about shopping lately.
I’ve been assured that kids in my new complex do trick-or-treat, so I’ll need to shop. I’ll probably buy a couple or three assortment bags with stuff in them that either DH or I like (that way, leftovers do get consumed. I suppose I could also donate leftovers to the building manager’s desk candy dish).
Also need to get some decorations. I’ve seen glow-in-the-dark spiderweb, and we do own a black light :D. Also should see if I can find a GitD skeleton to lynch off the balcony above our door (this was a hit last time we lived in a complex that had trick-or-treaters).
I do offer candy to adults/teens escorting kids. I figure they deserve it.
We’re waiting lest we be tempted to eat it all before the holiday. Definitely Mounds, peanut butter cups and Smarties, and probably something with nougat and/or caramel.
Now if only we got trick-or-treaters, but we live in an apartment building. I may have to resort to giving out goodie bags to my co-workers.
I knew a guy who did something like this. He’d set up for Halloween with a bowl full of candy and a cooler full of beer. Then every kid got candy and Mom or Dad got a beer.
As I live in a complex of one bedroom units, I rarely have ToTers. Nevertheless, I’ve made up bags for the folks at the rehab center and the VA where I do volunteer work. I bought Reese’s cups, Snickers, Milky Way, M&Ms and Skittles in most bags. I also made up some bags with SF chocolates and postage stamps for the diabetics in both crowds. I have the mini cans of play dough and a buttload of stickers at home for any little ghosts and goblins who show up at my door.
I’m considering spending the evening at the Fella’s house on Halloween. Since he lives in mid-suburbia, I can go hog wild with the treats.
