Halloween OhDope! (that's right, Ohio!)

By Persephone:

Why, of course, dahlink!

Oh good. Glad we got that straight.

So… umm… anyone gonna answer my questions about whether there is going to be any kind of mini dope on Friday and where the best place to stay is? I’d kind of like to get my travel arrangements made while the airfares are cheap.

Porcupine,

I’m always up for a thrilling night out on Friday pre-OhDope. I live near campus and I would suggest a bar hop. If the crew was small enough, we might start at one end of High Street (Columbus’s main thorofare) and catch cabs from the Brewery District, to the Arena District, to the Short North, to South Campus to Clintonville. By that time, I suspect, everyone would be plenty lit up. And I could easily stumble home.

Beyond that, though, I went to the Brewerey shop I patronize this afternoon. Last night I had been thinking about great beers that I might make. The best name I came up with was “Ed Zotti’s TeemingMillions Reserve Malt Liquor.” Sadly, malt liquors are lagers and I have no refrigerator to keep the beer cold as it ages. Its too fucking hot here to make lagers without refrigeration.

So I bought ingerdients for a Porter and a Stout. October should be a good time for such varieties. I may even dip into the reserve for one of my Scots ales or maybe a brown ale. Who knows?

porc, well CRAP! I did a whole big post full of links to hotels and everything on Friday and it must’ve gotten eaten in the hack.

Poo!

Give me a little time and I’ll get the research done again.

Okay, here’s some hotels I picked off Travelocity. think may be able to give you a better idea if these are actually nice or whatever, but at least its a start. These are all within a 9 mile radius of ts’s place:

Wellesley Inn

Cross Country Inn

Courtyard Dublin

Red Roof Inn

Amerisuites

I tried to keep the rates under $100/night. Most of these seemed pretty reasonable.

Okay, what the heck? I saw that post last Friday, I remember being mightily impressed, Bunny…what in the world happened this weekend?

Nevermind, I’m caught up on the story. Bummer all around, I must say.

Thanks, Bunnygirl. Ummm… think, are you gonna clue us out-of-towners in on which of these is the preferred place to stay? Or do I have to guess and end up picking the farthest, most inconvenient one? Or am I staying with you?

Well, porcupine, if you want, you and I can go in halvies on a room. I’ve got a friend checking on motels and stuff in the area, but I haven’t heard from her, so I’ll start making other plans. If you want to, let me know.

So, it isn’t weird to fly to Ohio to meet folks I hardly know? Mapquest tells me it’s a 10 hour drive.

Trust me, love, after you meet us you’ll say it was worth every penny!

Ok, ok, I’m sold…uh, I think. Will I regret this in the end? Oh lord.

looks around for a possible roommate

How the heck would know? Even though I moved there 10 months ago, I only lived there for 3 weeks before being banished to Kaintuckee. I’ve got the equivalent of a $1,200/night apartment for all the time I’ve spent there since.

Seriously though, the Wellesley and the AmeriSuites are the closest, being off the same exit as my place (I-270, exit 15-Tuttle Crossing.) The others are off the next exit up, mile 17, so they are still close.

Don’t forget, and I know Bunny at the least is planing on taking advantage of this: I’ve reserved the “spare” apartment in my complex. It’s a 2 BR/2B (probably with a pull-out couch, too) furnished place that goes for $85/night. Figuring that between 3-4-8 people, you’re looking at peanuts. Something to keep in mind.

Dibs on a spot in the spare apartment.

Juniper, cool! Slumber party! I’ve got a camping pad someone can use to sleep on and spare sleeping bags. I prefer blankets myself but I’ll be happy to loan out the bag.

Me too, me too. Juniper, shall we chat?

Ooh! I want in, too! Me and all the ladies. Aw…yeah

I was gonna save you a spot, Superdude.

Woohoo! In your face, space coyote! Thanks, Sophie. You’re a peach.
