Maybe so. I’m closer.
Ohh! Truth or Dare!
laughs happily I cannot wait.
Who said anything about “truth?”
Honey, it’s all dare, all the time.
No fair cutting line! Kick him out of line!!
No shaving of people, think? Pfffffffft. I’ve got a fiver that says that rule will change if someone of the female persuasion asks if she can help Mr. Snow shave.
Uh… not to butt in on the flirting, but since it looks like hitching a ride out of Chicago doesn’t look like it’s going to happen, and since I probably won’t have the money to fly, what other cheap options are there for me getting myself to Ohio?
Hi, Tiggeril.
There isn’t much by way of mass transit from Chicago to Columbus–or from anywhere else to Columbus, for that matter–other than flying, unfortunately. You could take a Greyhound, but…ecch. I’d almost rather walk.
You might want to check Travelocity.com and other travel websites to make sure that you really, truly can’t afford to fly. You’d be surprised at some of the airfares you can find if you buy your tickets far enough in advance.
There may be some other opportunities for you, though, since you’re in a city with many colleges and universities. During the Friday before Halloween, many students will be sharing rides to various places. Columbus, having a pretty big student party scene (read, “tendency to suffer from riots”), should be drawing at least a few of them our way. Here at OSU, we have a set of “ride boards,” in which people who want a ride can list their request, and anyone who has a car but wants someone to come with them to split expenses can list where they’re going and when. I once got a ride for a friend and me from Columbus to NYC for $20.00 apiece that way.
Of course, there’s no guarantee that you won’t end up with a total wierdo, but my experiences using this system have been pretty good.
Good luck getting transportation. I remember all too well how frustrating it was to try to get around without my own steed. I hope to see you here in October!

Scribble, add you to the list, shall I? Planning on coming?
I plan on coming. I also have a couch available if someone needs it- the catch is that I also have a cat. (well, I have a husband too, but people aren’t allergic to him).
Is that a home football weekend? Thinksnow, what suburb are you closest to?
Be glad to see y’all
Ahem…well, I hadn’t actually made any sleeping arrangements, so I’ll take the couch, if that’s okay. No problem with the cat. Have one of my own, but she won’t be coming with me. Husband’s no problem unless he likes me more than he does you.
For those that are familiar with Columbus, I’m up by Tuttle Crossing in Dublin. For those that aren’t familiar with Columbus, it’s the top-left corner, about 10:30 if you were to look at the I-270 bypass as a clock face.
I’d like to once again say that my MoA is doing a smash-up job!
D’oh! Forgot to mention that the Buckeyes are playing Penn State that weekend. At Penn State

Thank yuh, thank yuh verry muuuch.

Absolutely. I apologize if I didn’t make myself clear when this thread was started. It would be great to meet all you guys.
I’d love to say that I could offer people a place to stay, but I don’t know where I’ll be living by October. If I do end up having available crash space, I’ll post to let all you fellow Halloween OhDopers know.

I live in Ithaca, NY, about 8.5 hours from Columbus, but I grew up in Ohio, and my parents live in Akron, so maybe I’ll hop down there for a visit and end up in Columbus. A few of my really close HS friends live down there now, so I could stay with them. I’ll let you all know.
Jman
Okay, got ya both down. You as a maybe, Jman.
This just in! Southwest.com has these really cool $30-each-way fares from St. Louis and Chicago to–wait for it–Columbus! If someone can help me get to think’s house from the airport and back again, I’ll be sooooooo there. Anyone? Anyone? Bueler?
Airport runs can be arranged.
Now y’all’ve got no excuses! Extra points* to those that show up in the airport in costume.
[sub]*: Points not valid for travel. Points must be used by May 33rd, on a leap year. Points are non-transferable, though they may be combined with those accumulated from other Point-gathering ventures. Points have no cash value, but may be used in exchange for other Points. Points must be redeemed in person…preferrably a scantily-clad person. [/sub]
I hate to sound like a whiny college student (It breaks my cover) but I’m going to hope that there will be floor somewhere that I can sleep on. I don’t really care where as long as it is reasonably clean and preferably carpeted.
Just a warning to everyone involved.
Hey, Medea, I’ve got dibs on the couch (if I come alone) or the bedroom (if hubby comes) in that spare apartment that ts arranged. Why don’t you join me? Room for all. I’ve got an extra sleeping bag.
Juniper, SCORE! And your costume will be? Give me a hint! I can’t wait to see everyone. I think we talked about it at the Art Fair, but my mind can be a sieve sometimes and I think that’s one of those things that fell through the cracks.
