Halo 3 Thread

I hated that Halo 2 didn’t have Co-op online. I find that, no matter how good I get on single player, I will always be slaughtered repeatedly by a trash-talking ten-year-old in versus mode.

One of my favorite things from Halo 2, however, was stealing vehicles.

I am really looking forward to customizable maps and (hopefully) some decent games of Capture the Flag. That is, unless expert ten-year-olds dominate once again.

I used Halo 3 as my test to see how quickly Amazon.com ships pre-ordered games. In the past, I’ve always pre-ordered at Game Stop and paid in full right away.

I already resent the game for all of my valuable time it will consume.

The first review on this site deals with the lack of “repetitive settings” in this FPS.

ArsTechnica gave it a VII which is below average (it seems like 90% of AT reviews are VIII)

I find most reviews to be fair. I tend to read a number of them and compare the similarities. If they’ve all got the same particular gripe then I take that as a valid gripe. I also read the ones with the lowest scores and the ones with the highest. I generally find it’s just differences in scoring methods and the comments tend to be similar.

I don’t let the review dictate what I buy though, I use it more if I’m tossing up between a couple of titles or sometimes I check to make sure something that sounds good isn’t complete crap before I buy it.

To be honest, I don’t read many reviews at all. Sometimes I stumble across some, but I don’t regularly do it.

I bought the Xbox just to play Halo, and loved it! I got Halo2 and never finished the single player, but played the crap out of the online multiplayer (some 5k worth of online matches).

So I will be getting Halo 3 tomorrow and took Tuesday and Wed off to enjoy it properly. I dont care that much for the singleplayer except that it’s now a co-op online multiplayer so that should be fun. But I played the Halo3 online beta and it was just fun as hell, so I can’t wait to pick up my copy!!

Nine hours left. I am truly giddy with anticipation.

Reviews seem decent. More of the same, partner AI is slightly less awful… but you’re saddled with it more. Some nice gear-related rock paper scissors.

In short: It’s no Bioshock. But it’s everything Halo 2 should have been.

I am in an odd situation.

I don’t normally play FPS games.

But shortly after HALO came out, I found myself playing it with a group of friends… it turned into a weekly thing, every Thursday night. It got a bit out of hand… 2 teams bringing TV’s, having anywhere from 2 to 4 Xbox’s set up in the house, all maxed out on people playing against each other.

Then HALO 2 came out, and we played it. We continued to play it, but we lost some of our folks as they didn’t like HALO 2 so much. I liked playing, but really enjoyed when we would dust off the old school HALO.

I have a 360, and will probably pick it up in February, when I can get the wireless network set up and get a Live account… I only want to play against other people.

I can’t play single player, I get sick. Motion sick, which is pretty much the ONLY time I get motion sick.

Well, again, if you gentlemen are interested, I’m

I don’t get why people like to play video games so much. They seem so boring and unproductive, especially the shooter games. This comes from a 21 year old male.

So am I the only nerd who picked up his copy today at midnight? Or is everyone else still playing?

First impressions, the game is beautiful. These next gen graphics are nice. The controls feel very tight, and this coming from a guy who prefers mouse and keyboard over a controller. The graphics are nice. Tried getting into multi-player but couldn’t figure it out (why can’t it be as simple as Lost Planet?) so I started playing the campaign instead. Story is OK so far. Same old stuff from the previous games. Go here, get to there, backtrack to the previous area. New weapons are everywhere as well as old favorites. The graphics are nice. Need to really read the manual to figure out multi-player. Did I mention the graphics look really good?

I love the Cortana flashes you keep getting.

Yeah, I got it. The graphics are mighty impressive. I played roughly half of the first stage last night before bedtime and I’m doing a quick look-see for multiplayer.

I just got it. The game stores were all “did you preorder?”, but Target had cases of the game sitting around, just waiting for me to trip over them.

Jeez, those bastards with the Gravity Hammer are tough!

No more so than Must See TV! :stuck_out_tongue:

Fun game so far! The Gravity Hammer is sick. Doesn’t look like I have to control the Arbiter any time soon, which is cool. I might write a review for it on Gamefaqs once I finish the storyline mode.

Spoiler question to anyone playing:

How the heck do you destroy the scarab?? I’m on board now, with sarge telling me to “look for a weak spot!”

You have to go around back and shoot the energy core. I think it takes around four to five shots
