Someone in a bookstore recommended this book to me the other day. I don’t have much time to read a book right now, but I might make some if it was really worth reading.
Any opinions on this title?

My brother is a huge halo fan and he completely loved this book and strongly reccomneds it. He plays the videogame, and he said if you play it, the book is much better.
There is actually two halo books
Book one chronicles the creation of the unit and its actions right up to the game.
Book two , is the chronicle of events that take place during the game ,in novel form.

If you accept that it’s a corny video game book right off the bat, then imho, it’s a damn good read.
It was my understanding that the video game came from the book, not the other way around.
Anyhow, thanks for the opinions. I’ve really been craving a good sci-fi read, I think I’ll give it a spin.
Negative, game first, then a book. Haven’t read it but I do know that the book came out at least a month and a half after the game’s release.
Well I’ll be damned…for some reason, the way it was described to me made me think it was about 20 years old. I guess I’ll still read it but that tidbit dampened my enthusiasm just a bit.
Halo, the concept, has been around much longer than the game, though I don’t think the game is really based on it directly per se.
Well, there were the Ringworld books, but I don’t think there is any reason to believe that the specific concept of Halo is any older than the game. Do you have cites that prove otherwise?
Halo itself, not so much, but the Flood were a pretty generic sci-fi baddie. Idea’s at least as old as Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and it got more interesting interpretations in The Thing and the System Shock PC games. Still, pretty cool for just blowin’ stuff up. They really got that “endless horde” feel across.
