Burgers are okay, but usually I order something else if available. When I do have a burger (other than fast-food), I like ketchup, lettuce, tomato. Grilled onion if I can get it, raw onion otherwise. Sauteed mushrooms if they’re an option.
Just FYI, that’s what this emoticon is for: :smack:
A good, home-grilled burger needs nothing on it but cheese.
BBQ sauce and ideally, caramelized onions. If they are not available, diced onions will make a passable substitute.
Steak sauce is light years better than ketchup on a burger.
Ketchup, mustard, raw onions, pickles
That’s true. Because what is hamburger but a little pice of steak anyway?
No, the line is “What is hamburger? Chopped ham? No, it’s chopped steak!”
Ah! :smack: I even remember that commercial.
A question: The guy in that commercial. Who was he? I seem to recall him as some sort of pseudo-intelletual Dick Cavett wannabe who popped up here and there, but I never learned exactly who he was.
I didn’t take time to read the other 109 posts to see if someone already said it, but mustard is for hot dogs, ketchup is for hamburgers.
You misspelled “losers.”
I never got the ketchup hate. What other versatile food goes with hotdogs, eggs, beans and a grilled cheese?
Ooh, ooh, and potato!
Ketchup goes with eggs? Bleargh.
And beans?
Damn, I miss hamburgers…
Bacon, Cheddar, and Avocado topped with Ketchup and Mustard for me, please.
Goodness, some of these descriptions have me drooling. I love burgers of all shapes and sizes, however, I’m generally an old fashioned girl:
-cheddar cheese
-tomato
-onion
-lettuce
-A1 sauce
Though the best burger I’ve ever had was a cheddar BBQ bacon burger. There was a takeout place where I used to live… man, I miss that burger.
It’s also better than ketchup or tomato sauce in or on a meatloaf. Use it just like ketchup, in about the same amounts…and everyone will love it.
I know this is Anti-American, but I don’t like ketchup or mustard. Steak sauce, however, I will put on just about everything.
.
double post, not my fault.
My others: sliced kosher dill pickles, salt on the top bun, often pickled peppers. Or, if I get can get, good ol’ goop (which I think is mayo and relish and secret ingredients such as love), but that’s not at home burgers. I used to hate lettuce on burgers but I like it now sometimes.
Mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion and dill pickle. Please, no ketchup, mayo or cheese; IMO, they mask the taste of the meat.
Mushrooms, gravy and swiss cheese is a good topping combo if the meat is freezer-burned though.
