Handicapped button on fuel pump

Yesterday, while I was at the gas station I noticed a blue button on the fuel pump’s panel with the familiar wheelchair icon. I became curious as to what special functions a fuel pump would need to perform for someone who is handicapped (presumably in a wheelchair). As I am not wheelchair-bound myself, I didn’t want to needlessly press it just to find out what it does. Does anyone here know what such a button would do?

Perhaps it simply alerts the gas station attendant that someone needs assistance?

I’m told by my parents, who live in Florida, that self service gas stations are required by law to provde service to any customers with disabilities.

Perhaps Joe Random has the correct answer.

It’s a call button - it’s very hard to manuever between a car and gas pump with all the hoses in the way. You either get booted out of your chair or douse yourself in gasoline. Also, most of the card readers and some displays are too high to use easily.

Press button, and someone will come out and help you.
