I propose that each person who wants to participate do two samples: one “I’m writing legibly” and a second “I’m rushing to take down this note” sample.
I’m thinking that it would be best if everyone was writing the same thing… Here is a selection of sample text that I’ve used as dummy text when designing web pages. How about each person write as much or as little of this text (it’s kinda long) as they want in the two ways described above, then scan it in and send it to me (opalcat@fathom.org) and I’ll include it? I’ll post it on a page and link to it once it’s up (additional submissions would continue to be accepted ad infinitum.)

I do like kittens. Quite a bit, actually. Especially fuzzy ones. They do lose a bit of their cuteness after you shave themdown to stubble. And then comes the chafing… no, I’d definitely stick with the fuzzy kittens. Do you like kittens?
Sometime soon I think I’ll stop. Being sample text is not really as fulfilling as I’d hoped… maybe I will start a new career as text in a juicy tabloid! That seems like it would be exciting! Or a career in politics! I could be the text in some major treaty or something, and help to bring about world peace! But no… I’d probably end up being the text on page 1,195 of some huge committee report that no one is ever going to read…

I’m ever-so-pleased that a post of mine has inspired another thread. I think that there should be some sort of search facility on the board that allows one to link to the thread, if any, that inspired the new thread. Purely for ego purposes of course.
Okay, here’s a dumb question – use lined paper or not? For handwriting analysis, you’re not supposed to – is anyone (eek!) actually going to do anything like that?
Hey, this is pretty cool. Joe K’s writing looks like it belongs in a comic strip balloon. Cleophus’s looks more like a footwriting sample than a handwriting one.
Yeah, yeah. I’ll send mine in to make fun of. I’ve had a couple of beers tonight, though, and I don’t think my sample right now would be representative of my normal handwriting. I’ll do it tomorrow.
OK, I’ll write out a sample and send it out (note, I think I might win prize for most illegible, but we’ll see. It’s certainly worse than anything that’s there now, and I’m referring to my “legible” version. I just gotta dig out my scanner and hook it up (I just moved, so stuff is still packed away)
