Don’t know if this is the correct technical term, but we have a customer that is looking for a device to input sign offs by employee signature. Any recos, things to look for, what to avoid, etc., are appreciated.

Well, for whatever it’s worth, I use the IRISPen OCR wand, and it works great for me. It doesn’t do signatures, though; I don’t know of any OCR system that can.
Then again, I’m not entirely sure if that’s the kind of device you’re looking for…
How about a Wacom graphics tablet?
They’re not optical, but will let you input handwriting.
I use mine primarily with Photoshop.
