Handwriting

I came across some handwriting (done in cursive script) that I’ve seen off and on since I was a kid (and I’m 38 now). Anyway, it looks like it is done with someone holding a ruler as an edge to make the bottom line straight as it flows, hence all the letter look cut off.

So does this technique have a name? If so, what? If not, how does one come about doing it? If anyone here actually does this, how specifically do you get the effect? I’m just guessing that it has to be a hard linear object of some sort, but perhaps it is freehand after all. Because I’m just guessing. Any ideas?

there was (is?) a tech. of teaching blind children how to print and write that would have textured lines. that would create the handwriting you mention.

some would use a very flexible plastice rule-looking thing that they would move down the page as they wrote. also creating the cut off effect.

early '80’s is when i found out about it.

Hmmm. That would certainly explain one type of it. However, what about those people who can do it on the fly? Like while writing a check standing in line and stuff. I wonder what the deal is with that then?

Thanks rocking chair.

One bump just in case anyone else has had experience with this…
