Hanging photos on a wall

I have a small wall I’d like to hang three photos from. The wall is 67 inches across and the photos are each 12 inches wide.

I want to get them evenly spaced from each other and from the ends of the wall. Is there some mathematical formula I can follow, or is it simple math that I’m just not seeing?

Thanks,

67/4=16.75

Measure 16.75" from the wall, place center of photo #1 there. Measure 16.75" from that point, place second photo there. Measure 16.75" from that point, place 3rd photo there.

Well, since you have an odd number of frames, the middle one should be centered in the space at 67"/2 = 33.5" from either side.

There are four total gaps, so if you want them to all be the same:

Four gaps at 10.75" = 43" + 36"

67" - 36" - 4x" = ?
31" = 4x"
7.75" = x

Visually speaking you might want the gaps between the frames to be larger than between the frames and the wall.

Let a" = 2b"

67" - 36" - 2a" - 2b" = ?
31" = 2a" + 2b"
31" = 4b" + 2b"
31" = 6b"
b" = 5 1/6"

So between the frames would be 10 1/3" and the gaps near the walls would be 5 1/6"

20 2/3" + 10 1/3" + 36"

Thanks, guys/girls!

I like the idea of measuring to the center of each photo…makes it easier to mark the nail spot.
M.Constant - this is a narrow hallway wall, so no need to space differently, but I will most definitely save the ‘formula’ for later on!

Or if you don’t even want to measure it but rather do it by eye you hang the first picture in the center of the wall then center the other two between that one and the walls edges.
