Started out strong with a compelling storyline, shocking visuals, and a wonderfully spooky background sound.
Now it’s like Andy Warhol was brought back to life and in Clockwork Orange like fashion, was forced to consume countless condensed hours of 2010s culture, given copious amounts of acid, and given free rein to “create”.
I just started watching it this season. I was persuaded by all the accolades about the strong visuals, great performances, etc., to put aside my lack of enthusiasm for gory ghoulishness and give the show a try.
But last night, with the entry of the “I only feel truly alive when killing!!!1!!!” cliché, I am back to being highly doubtful.
Someone please tell me that this isn’t being played straight (in other words, that it’s some sort of wheels-within-wheels plot of Graham’s to catch Hannibal).
Yeah, I wasn’t a fan of that line either. Or the surreal meshing together of the sex scenes. I could see what they were trying to do, but I don’t think it quite worked.
Also, I could be completely wrong about that theory, at which point I’ll be just as thoroughly disappointed in the direction this series has taken!
I’m thinking this is all an elaborate plot of Will’s to ensnare Hannibal, that Jack is in on it, but not entirely aware of the extent of Will’s actions. Now I’m wondering… is Alana Bloom in on it?
So when is the “Margot is lesbian & this is a betrayal of the integrity of her character” cry going to rise up? I think the main defense would be that she wants to have the male Verger heir, but also that her & Will’s damage as well as being ‘patients’ of Lecter give them both a bond that could transcend her “proliclivities”.
