It is the only cooking show I watch.

I did not want to bump last years thread for this one question.

Can you still stomach the Hannibal portrayed in the movies after watching 3 seasons of Mads Mikkelsen’s Lector?

Yep, I definitely can. Hannibal Lector is my least favorite part of the show – I get it, he’s brilliant and flawless and perfect. Mikkelsen does a gerat job portraying him, but I find the character completely tiresome at this point.

I prefer the brilliant, arrogant, but flawed Lector from the films and books.

I do, however, think Will Graham, Jack Crawford, and the rest of the secondary cast are fantastic.

I’m looking forward to season 3, but I really want to see Lector behind bars at this point.

I, too.

So many shows would have given us glimpses of Hannibal in the premiere while mainly showing the aftermath of season 2. I love that this show showed us everything he has been up to and saved what happened to our other characters for next week.

It was a great choice and a great episode.

Did Gillian Anderson’s character have a psychotic break and kill a patient? Is that what we are supposed to believe?

That is what I gathered, but perhaps Lekter faked it to turn her.

I thought that guy had attacked another psychiatrist too?

This flashback to previous seasons events format is a bit confusing.

Does anyone else have any trouble understanding the dialogue, particularly Dr. Lecter’s? The music is low and broody- and damn near continuous- and when the characters kind of mumble, I can’t understand a word they say. My wife and I are going to have to start watching the show with subtitles just so we can figure out what’s going on.

I watch with subtitles. I just do not think there are any sound editors who have gone to as many rock concerts as I have.

I do not like thee, Doctor Fell, The reason why - I cannot tell; But this I know, and know full well, I do not like thee, Doctor Fell.

Indeed.

We watch this program with subtitles.

I agree, it was a fantastic episode. It felt like a dreamy European horror movie, very strange to be on network TV. I had trouble watching the Gideon flashbacks, but Eddie Izzard was great as always.

I do look forward to seeing Will Graham and the rest next episode. Especially seeing how anyone survived the finale, it seems like everyone was dead.

The patient was a former patient of Hannibal’s. I don’t remember if it was outright stated or just implied that Hannibal somehow manipulated him into attacking Bedelia, and Bedelia killed him in self defense. And Hannibal helped cover it up by saying that Hannibal killed the patient, and somehow the patient bit through his tongue and swallowed it, that’s why she had her arm in his mouth at the beginning of the scene. I’m fairly sure that there will be a flashback at some point since the patient was played by Zachary Quinto instead of just some obscure actor.

Bryan Fuller tweeted that the flashback to the Bedelia/Zach Quinto encounter will be in Episode 10.

I’m really losing interest in this show. Tonight’s episode was waaaaaaay too artsy pretentious for me. And considering how much it had been so in the past, that’s saying something. The first two seasons actually had interesting stories and narratives, so far this season has been pretty terrible IMO.

I know at some point the Dollarhyde story will start up, but I really don’t give a crap about whatever is happening now.
