They can do next year as a run-up to the events of Red Dragon with the conclusion being Hannibal’s arrest. If it gets picked up for another season, they can basically re-do Red Dragon in some form or another, or they could totally go a different route. They’ve already deviated considerably from the timeline set up in the books and in the movie adaptations of “Red Dragon”. If its successful ratings-wise (and it has been, especially for NBC), they’ll ride this horse as long as they’re making money and the principals want to keep making the series.
That being said, Lecter has to wind up in jail eventually. His whole Chesapeake Ripper thing is gonna grow stale real quick without some resolution.
Ooh, ooh, this is the first time I’ve been the first to post something about an Easter Egg! Usually, I’m the last to get these.
In the most recent episode, I believe “Buffet Froid”, Ellen Muth is one of the actors. One of her notable roles was as playing “Georgia” or “George” in the series Dead Like Me. In it, she played a “reaper”, someone who is already dead who goes around helping other people with the transition from being alive to being dead. So she occupied this in-between state.
Her character in this Hannibal episode is ALSO named Georgia / George. Her character has a syndrome (I forget what it was called) but it made her think that she was already dead. And one of her lines was “Am I alive?”.
Are people here still watching this show? Last night’s episode was the most intense episode of the series yet, and the most riveting hour of television I’ve seen in a long time. The last 15 minutes, starting when Will brings Abigail to the cabin and then has one of his episodes, were absolutely spellbinding.
I’m bumping this to remind anyone who may be lurking here that the season finale is on tonight and it promises to be a doozy.
If you need to catch up, you can watch the last few episodes online at the NBC site.
Or just jump in, hell, even if you’ve never watched it before. Y’all know who Hannibal Lecter is, right? Well, this is his story before being caught and imprisoned. There you go; you’ll catch up fast and the visuals of the show alone may be enough to keep your interest and carry you forward.
Welp.
This may be the best show ever aired on television. THere are no superlatives superlative enough to describe how artful it is, from the sound to the lighting (holy FUCK Lecter’s face as he walked down the hallway at the end; is that not the most incredible use of lighting ever) to the set design to the dialogue to the acting and did I say the sound and fucking everything else. Everything combines into the most perfect jigsaw puzzle that adds up to a show that shoots lightning into your mind, body, and soul. I’m, like, wrung out and in need of a cigarette.
Now to put myself in a medically induced coma until next year.
Just watched the last 4 episodes tonight. Wife and I really like the show alot. I’m glad Will is cured and is thinking clearly now because his shtick with all the ticks and teeth grinding was wearing thin. Eager to see normal Will try to out wit Hannibal now that he suspects him.
Yeah, I was a little high on excitement when I wrote that. Having calmed down, I will still assert that this is one of the best shows I’ve seen in years.
It’s not without its flaws – especially in the procedural episodes from the early part of the season, there were some major plot holes – but the rest of the show is so strong, I really couldn’t give a shit if it’s unlikely an old frail man could make a human totem pole or whatever.
I was highly skeptical when I heard about Hannibal, I dig the movies and the books, but didn’t watch the first season when it originally aired. Found it on Amazon Prime and began watching while I was off work for for a week. I couldn’t stop watching it and while it has it’s suspend disbelief moments overall I love it. Especially compared to most of the TV shows out there. I’ve obviously have moved from most of televisions target demographics, and rarely watch any shows, but this one has something to it thats a little bit different, the gore actually takes a back seat. Can’t wait to finish season 1 and get on to season 2.
Sorry to dedicated Hannibal fans here. I’ve been obsessed with this show for 2 seasons and now having watched the first 2 eps of season 3; I’m done! It’s really really obvious to me that the writers have run out of steam and are recycling ideas instead of inventing meaningful new content. Will Graham being resurrected after what happened at the end of S02 just does NOT work and Gillian Anderson’s character evolving into a sniveling helpless follower - NO NO. They really should have ended it at the end of S02.
I would urge giving the third episode a try. The pace and story have picked up. From what I’ve seen, it should come on strong this week. And Bedelia really takes a hard left turn into risky behavior.
