A year ago, I posted this thread, regarding my great-grandmother’s 99th birthday.
Well folks, she made it another year. Today is her 100th birthday.
I’m amazed. I’m related to a centegenarian. I’m a direct descendant of a woman who has lived the entire twentieth century. My children will remember their great-great grandmother, and they will remember that she loved them.
Happy 100th Birthday, Grandma. You’re a remarkable woman, and I hope that I am loved as much as you are.
How wonderful that you also have a centegenarian grandmother, Cristi! My grandmother recently celebrated her 102nd birthday, and she’s a real treasure! Can you imagine how much different the world is today from when our grandmothers were young???
Genetics being what they are, you DO realize that you are probably in for a long life yourself? Better ask your gran for tips on how to survive all the changes…like SHE has gone through.
She must be an absolutely amazing woman, and I envy you her.
Congradulations on your Grandmother!! My grandmom (mamette, we called her) lived to be 100. She made it halfway to 101 before passing away less than a year ago. She was a fabulous painter. I have about 4 of her paintings, although my cousin has our generation’s favorite of hers. A partially nude showgirl looking behind her while the mirror is showing her boobies. She stayed pretty alert until her death. Only having been in a nursing home a few months.
When she was in her 80’s, she got the idea of chasing the squirrels out of the backyard with a shotgun. She had killed six before the police arrived. She then hid in the garage. We all had a good laugh at her memorial service. Totally cool!
