Happy 400th episode Simpson family! 20 May '07 (spoilers)

I just Wikipedia’ed the term Boston Marriage and was mildly surprised to find that it is a real and contextually topical term. I sort of thought it might have been a made-up one, like when Milhouse objects to leaning over due to this leaving himself open to “Wedgies, Wet Willies, and the dreaded [url=http://www.snpp.com/guides/rear.admiral.html]Rear Admiral*”.

Kind of a let down. I liked a few bits here and there, but … shrug it was “meh” overall. The 24 spoof was funnier than the second half.

No, I’m pretty sure it’s that other word. The one that’s way, way worse. It’s so bad, you might never even have heard it. If you don’t know what it is, I’m certainly not going to be the one to take away your innocence.

I really liked both episodes. I loved Krusty’s voice-over to the Itchy & Scratchy, and Grandpa’s list of things TV stars couldn’t say.

Only when used as a noun.

Am I the only one who thought that Kent’s muffled outburst sounded like “circumcision”? It certainly couldn’t have been that, given the reaction, but that’s what the word sounded like to me.

There used to be a show in the '90s that was also called The Simpsons, except it was funny.

I thought some of the split screen stuff in the first one was priceless. One I noticed was of the back of someone’s (Skinner’s maybe?) pants as they stood up from a chair, and then just the empty chair after they got up.

I really wish I had taped this episode so I could add it to the marathon next weekend.

I thought they were both funny.

I loved grandpa’s list. Fanny burp & front lumps.

Loved it when Bart was kicking that giant tooth into Skinner’s mouth.

And, to the best of my recollection, “if a dead fish had a baby with a homeless person, and the baby puked, and a dog ate the puke, this is what the dog’s rear end would smell like.”

Also, Bart driving the car with his butt.

Ned watching the video tapes: I’m e-mailing everyone to protest something that nobody saw and nobody cares about. Or some such nonsense.

“Daddy, we think you need a new Mommy.”

Indeed. And, I believe, the first instance of Homer strangling Bart. Ah, memories.

To quote Cartman, a character from a cartoon that is still funny- “lame”.

The first episode was really solid. The second one was merely passable.

Overall, though, this was the best season of the Simpsons in years. We had some pretty good episodes this season.

Here here.

We did. I siad before that this was the best season in 10 years, and that leaves me feeling good about the direction of the show at this point.

Looking at an epguide, I’d say it was the best season since Season 10 or 11.

I liked, didn’t love both episdoes. My favorite part in either was Krusty’s narration of “Itchy n Scratchy”

yep

“it’s not rocket surgery”

Plus Otto on the railroad tracks with the train approaching.

When I was watching the 24 parody, I couldn’t help comparing it to the South Park parody. SP was much better. Every once in a while during the episode, I leaned over to my husband and said in a hushed voice: “Apple juice farts”.

If I hadn’t seen the SP 24 parody, I would have like The Simpsons 24 parody.

“Oh, wait. He doesn’t know that yet.”
