Happy 400th episode Simpson family! 20 May '07 (spoilers)

I haven’t seen the South Park 24 parody – wasn’t aware they’d done one.

But I did like this Simpsons 24 parody. The second episode (the Kent Brockman thing) didn’t really hold my attention, but I liked the first one. Definitely helps to be a 24 fan, though. I particularly liked the actual Jack Bauer cameo scenes, as well as the bit that went something like:

“Lisa, there’s a mole at CTU. And I know who it is. And I’m about to reveal the mole’s identity to you, okay? Ready? The mole, who is working with the bullies, and whose name I know, is…” Wham! Bart is knocked out by the mole.

Nice little dig at one or two occurrences in the 24 universe.

Was the smiley to indicate one or two occurrences per episode?

Nobody laughed at Moe’s do-it-yourself dentistry? I thought that was very characteristic, and funny.

Overall, the eps were better than we’ve seen recently. Not exceptional, but better than most lately.

I thought both were above average episodes, but the one thing that really did bug me about the second one is that they couldn’t make it through their historic 400th episode without featuring yet another cameo from yet another flavor-of-the-month rap star.

At the start of #399, did that caption read “Homer Simpson, devoted father of two”? Maybe Bart always calls Homer “Homer” rather than “Dad” for a reason.

Homer always forgets about Maggie.

Yeah, that was definitely a joke at Maggie’s expense. Hilarious, too.

Anyone else notice the commercials for the “24” episode had Jack Bauer saying, “This is Jack Bauer, who the HECK are you”?

Which, if course, is not what was in the episode. How typical is this?

It was the twitching legs that cracked me up.

Homer: Oh… We always have one good kid and one lousy kid. Why can’t both our kids be good?
Marge: We have three kids, Homer.
Homer: Marge, the dog doesn’t count as a kid!

In 400, as we have the POV running through the air vents, what was the point of showing Lisa’s teacher and Santa’s Little Helper together?

I didn’t get that one.

-Joe

Looked like they were both passed out drunk.

I thought it was an insinuation of bestiality. Was there anything else to get?

I thought the Moe-dentist joke was funny too, in part because I have my own set of tools at home that I do some periodic cleaning with.

I also thought Homer at the dentist was great. . .with all the screaming, and then “that wasn’t so bad” after the kid jumps out the window.

You can’t go wrong with dentistry/screaming gags.

“And that’s the tooth!”
