Happy Birthday to Sir Paul! and a question...

John, Paul, George and Ringo: The cheeky ones.

I agree, since the OP was about how they were known, back then. It wasn’t till well after the Beatles had broken up that his viciousness became known. At least to people who referred them to the ‘cute’, ‘quiet’, etc…

They weren’t ever a boy band.

George was 'the Quiet one". The TV Tropes thing doesn’t fit them.

John may have been the bad boy in the Beatles, but the Beatles and the Dave Clark 5 seemed to be thought of as the nice ones compared to the rough and scruffy Rolling Stones. I can’t believe it’s been over 50 years since they were on Ed Sullivan.

Not sure if your question marks are aimed at the lyrics…or at the poster for misquoting them, but in fact, she did.

The correct lyrics are in her post…in a quote from another source.

John Lennon could be absolutely brilliant, but could be full of shit at times too. It’s probably good to remember that when he was, there was a lot if it about from other sources.

In any case, “Strawberry Fields Forever” was not one of those times. IMHO it’s one of the most remarkable achievements in all of rock.

I sat belonely down a tree
Humbled fat and small
A little lady sing to me
I couldn’t see at all

Grew up reading this. My mom gave me her 1967 paperback of In His Own Write and A Spaniard in the Works for Christmas last year. My favorite is “The Fat Budgie.”
