Yep, our little Doper micropreemie, Caileigh Morgan, is 2 years old! Can you believe it?! Her development is great, she’s a little delayed in speech and in gross motor skills, but no one is seriously worried about her. She gets physical therapy once a week and we’re about to start speech therapy twice a month.
She’s still itty-bitty. She’s about 21 pounds and 26 inches tall. She’s following a normal growth curve, though, so her doctor thinks she’s doing great. She’s just small. Really small. Here she is making out with her boyfriend, who’s less than half her age but almost the same size!
So thank you all, again, for all your prayers and well wishes and support during that whole horrible time. I love you guys!
Her party is next Saturday, and I promise to post pics after.
(For you newbies who have no idea why this is significant to me, see this thread.)
Aww…she’s super cute! Don’t worry about her size…my daughter was born at term, at a perfectly average size, and was about the same size as your daughter is at 2 years old. Sounds to me like your daughter is catching up nicely. Happy Birthday to her!!!
Awwwwwwwww. Way to rally, microbaby. Hang in there and evetually you’ll get a boyfriend with hair (which he’ll lose again 60 years from now but don’t worry about that now).
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday to you
Happy bithday dear Whybaby
Happy birthday to you.
WhyNot, the linked thread was one of the first I read here when I stumbled by. The love I saw in that thread showed me that this was a community, not just a place to post. I remember times when I was scared to open that thread for fear of bad news. I am so glad the outcome has been so positive. Best of wishes to the little one, and to your whole family.
Happy birthday to Caileigh and to your whole family! I still get tears in my eyes when I remember holding my breath checking in to see if she was still hanging in there. She is indeed a miracle baby (and so advanced! Most girls don’t understand the advantages of younger men until they’re much, much older).
Seriously, two years? I’m amazed. I would have said 1 year. Anyway, happy birthday to WhyBaby, happy birthday to you! (Or, as my kids have been singing lately, happy birthday to you, you’re a hundred and two!)
Thanks, everyone! I told her the nice people who live in the computer said, “Happy Birthday to you!” and she grinned and said, “TWOOOOOOOoooooooooooooo!”
