Happy Diwali!

Let’s set it up.

In fact, let’s make it a Dopefest Plus. Invite R, D, J, A, N, P, and whatever other friends went to sushi night last week. I’ll invite some of my friends to it as well. Local Dopers are welcome as well.

I’ll start a new thread for it.

Yes, but I don’t particularly like tex-mex – way too bland. The funny thing is that I honestly grew up thinking a lot of the comfort foods that I ate were perfectly normal – it wasn’t until I was an adult living in Seattle that I discovered that the typical American comfort foods were those things that I thought were “weird” growing up (meatloaf, mac & cheese, etc) Mousaka and spanakopita are my comfort foods – well, you get my point. As Nawth Chucka points out, in the South, people who don’t speak with a pronounced drawl are still considered “ferners.” Let’s face it, where I work bagels are considered an “ethnic” food.

I grew up in Texas, and I totally agree with you. I was in hog heaven when I ate my first plate of Mexican food in northern New Mexico.
