Happy Easter! Any Christians or believers here?

Happy Easter!

It was a very different Easter for us. I missed going to Good Friday and Easter masses. I watched Easter mass on tv. I felt very emotional watching the service and saying the prayers.

Caught the edge of that yesterday in Missouri. Almost 70 around noon, then pea-sized hail and falling temps until I woke up this morning to 29 and frost on the car.

We seem to have dodged a bullet. Tornadoes in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and two about 50 miles south of us, but the metro Atlanta area just got rain and high winds - not even power outages.

This is what I listened to, with sad joy, joyful sadness

I am an oblate of the Camaldolese Benedictines.

The snow was ridiculous, but I did make it to my parents’ house (we’re all pretty isolated otherwise, and besides, spiral cut ham…). Snapped a picture of a deer in the backyard. They’ve always seen a deer here and there, but lately it’s been deer-heaven in the yard. And they aren’t even rural! Houses are, like, 8-10ft apart from each other. They even spotted a turkey last week. The wildlife is quickly reclaiming what was once theirs, lol.

I’m a lapsed Catholic, but I always loved Easter. I’d go to the cathedral just to hear the music. So much I love about Easter, and this year, we didn’t even cook out on the grill or have a spiral ham. No appetite. Happy Easter to all.

Happy Resurrection Sunday. (A few days late.)

Hallelujah! He is risen, indeed!

Spent Sunday feeling a little blue that we couldn’t go to church and sing in the choir.
As we always do Easter weekend, we watched “The Passion of the Christ” and ate ham. No Cadbury eggs. :frowning:

Our church plans to have an Easter service once this overreaction ends, so we’re still practicing our songs.

I’ll get back to you on the 19th. Great and Holy Week in the orthodox churches.

I’ve been here on The Dope for eight years and whenever I make a faith-based comment it is usually shot down and/or ridiculed. Once I got a warning for evangelizing (IIRC).

I am uplifted by this thread, seeing the community of believers here.

This is a majority-atheist board; make an argument based on your belief, and one of us will challenge it. And just like in real life, we don’t like being preached or “witnessed” to.

But there’s no proselytizing in the thread, just good wishes on the occasion of a holiday; it’s simple courtesy to respond with the hope that you enjoyed it. I’d post the same response if a Jewish Doper made a “Happy Passover!” thread, or a Muslim a “Happy Eed al Fitr!” one. That’s not about faith; that’s about not being a jerk.

I’m cool with that, SMV.

Voistinu Voskrese!
With thanks to rocking chair for the reminder.

As you have the Russian side of the family covered, I’ll throw in something for the danish side.

Kristus er opstanden! Sandelig Han er Opstanden!

It was a bit odd not being in church for hours and hours. Watching on live-streams in a rocking chair was a bit surreal.

Thank you, bullitt!

You’re very welcome! And thank you to all here. I found the greetings and responses uplifting.

I looked it up in Tagalog, the language of my native Philippines. I was born there and then was 3 when my family emigrated to the states.

Nabuhay si Cristo! Siya ay nabuhay, sa katunayan!
I hope that’s accurate. It comes from Google Translate.

I’m a Christian, and my church had online Easter services this year (and will continue to have online services until this whole pandemic is over).
