Happy Easter, Dopers! He is risen!

It’s 0400, or zero dark early, and my wife and I are up and going, heading out to our first-ever sunrise service. Then we’re having brunch with family.

What are your Easter plans?

Happy Easter, Dopers! He is risen!

He has risen indeed.

Going to pick up breakfast for my mom at Bob Evans.

He is risen indeed.

I usually like to celebrate Easter on the ski slopes but this year a local hike seems more appropriate. Of all the holidays and holy days Easter has always meant the most to me which is something that was from childhood.

Hooray for Easter! The central holiday of our faith.

Yes. When I was a kid I thought Christmas was the most important, but as I grew I came to realize that Easter was the celebration that meant the most. Without it Christmas would have little significance.

I’ll be going to church, then coming home to finish off the simnel cake I’ve made. I’ll take the cake and the bread I made yesterday, go pick up my mom, and we’ll be going to my sister’s house for dinner with the family.

Happy Easter, Christian folks! Best to you and your families.

He is Risen Indeed, Alleluia!!

These last two years, we’ve had to cancel our Easter Vigil service due to Covid. It is my favorite of all possible services, ending with champagne and wine on the altar and food all around as we celebrate Easter. So last night at about 11pm (when our Vigil service usually ends), I popped open some wine and brought out some cheese to celebrate.

Happy Easter! He is truly risen!
We attended an Easter Vigil last night. Great to be in church and hear the music.
Easter dinner around 4, with a big ham, string beans, sweet potatoes, beer bread and lemon meringue pie.

Wife went to church, I stayed home and went for a walk by the lake with the biggest coffee cup I could find, a cookie, and a book.

It feels like Spring out, finally … we are all risen, indeed!

Now we’re about to sit down for takeout Easter Dinner from a cajun place.

Happy Easter, Christian friends!

It finally feels like spring, and I spent the day gardening. But it was so nice out that I spent some time just lying in the sun, smelling the grass.

Alleluia, He is risen indeed. One more year of online church.

Our sunrise service was at Sweeney Ridge, the spot where Europeans first discovered San Francisco Bay, in 1769. It is a beautiful spot. It was overcast but on the horizon a break in the clouds allowed the sun to peak through at sunrise.

I took some pictures:

Happy Easter to my Christian Doper brothers and sisters!

Sunrise service and bagpipes… beautiful.

Hey, you had ‘The Piper at the Gates of Dawn’…
