Happy end of tax season, accountants!

My newly-minted accountant wife has informed me that April 15th is the day that accountants everywhere throw their little visors up in the air and celebrate. Her firm is hosting a dinner and party today starting around 5:30 (rumor has it that some of the partners get started closer to two or three, hee hee hee). The party has a 80’s theme, darned if I know what to wear. Any other accountants celebrating?

May I suggest slacks, a natty sports coat (sans shirt and socks) and a nice pair of loafers made entirely from 1040EZ forms?

That could work. I also thought about a suit with suspenders and blue shirt with white collar, a la Michael Douglas in “Wall Street.”

Tweed is good.

I’m celebrating with my accountant friend tonight. I think I’ll just wear what I have on.

Wow, that was actually really fun. Who knew accountants could get crazy? A little reserved by lawyer party standards, but that’s probably a good thing. My wife did the thriller dance and I took second place in the dancing/lip synching contest. I should have demanded extra points for difficulty - I had “Footloose” and she had “Mickey!” That’s a gimme! We both won Magic 8 balls, so I’m not complaining. Credit for my victory is shared with my good friend Sam Adams.
